Tell last man out the Emirates to switch off floodlights, Arsene

So, it’s all over, Arsene. In a season in which we have celebrated 125 years of glorious tradition and history it has come to this. With the news that the imperious gladiators of global football have grasped an unassailable nine point lead ahead of our once proud team, surely it is time for Arsenal to fold? Call it a day. Thanks for popping in. As sad a conclusion as it may seem, it is, I am afraid, an inevitable one.

Even Premier League powerhouse Everton couldn’t withstand the omnipotent Lillywhites, who stormed to an unprecedented 2-0 hammering of the Toffees. Impressive, eh? It means they sit proudly in second spot. My goodness me. I am flabbergasted at that achievement. Indeed, if I had a hat I’d take it off. Brazil, Barca and Bognor Regis Town eat your hearts out. There is a new giant in town.

Take down the statues. Turn the pitch into a community garden. Allow the protestors at St Paul’s Cathedral to shelter within the soon-to-be redundant bowl that is the Emirates. Will the last man out of the ground unplug the floodlights.

For, tear-jerkingly, the doors must close on our erstwhile majestic club. Yes, there will be an orderly queue of desperate Gooners preparing to hurl themselves off the old East Stand at Highbury. For my part I shall avoid suicide and make do with some good old fashioned caterwauling.

David Danskin. Wilf Copping. Joe Mercer.Fred Street. Tom Watt. David Price. Igor Stepanovs. That bloke out off the telly, the short, rotund and unfunny one who is wheeled out as our celebratory fan when the occasion demands it. Thierry Henry. Fidel Castro. Ainsley Harriot. Your boys took a hell of a beating.

Forget three top flight titles on the bounce in the Thirties. Dismiss proper history. Forget The Invincibles. 49 games unbeaten? Pah! Mere bagatelle. Yes, we are London’s biggest club. Yes, we have won more silverware than those we once mocked as Tee Hee FC. And yes, we have a magnificent stadium, a manager who could retain his greatness by spending a few quid to bolster our depleted squad, as well as Abou Diaby. Champions League? Of course. For now. Top four. On cards. FA Cup? Possibly.

But come, come – let us face facts. We will never, ever, ever be able to match the heroic feat of Sir Harold Redface and his mighty fine footballers who are now odds-on title favourites. They say that the Prem bigwigs may even award them the title in the next few days such is their dominance and the obvious conclusion that they will lift the crown for the first time since 1961. It’ll put us others out of our misery.

Nine bloody points. It’s not a gap, more a gulf. A chasm. As Stephen Hawking would say: “You. Are. Light. Years. Away.” There is even talk of world leaders, heads of state  and Mother Theresa’s cousin Audrey meeting to discuss honouring an amazing achivement and rename Uranus after Sir Redface but retain its former name…

*Not really.

I would like to see them being in that position if they had actually tried in the Europa League. Again next year in the Champions League they just won’t cope. it’s either this year or NEVER!! Which I will go with NEVER!!

You fail to mention your outstanding performances against Fulham and Wolves yourselves, you see the fact this is even a blog on here indicates you are worried, in years gone by you would have laughed it off without comment, just how far ahead of you do we have to go before you all start wanting Arsenes head again, we won’t win the title but stop deflecting the fact away from yourselves disgusting management at Arsenal has meant you have lost your top dog ranking in Nth London and let’s be honest that is like waitrose being over taken by Lidl and you are all concerned by a trip to swansea now..or at least you should be given the fulham away performance..alugh away my old muckers, and comment away, because in years gone by it wouldn’t have got a paragraph never mind a full page…I refer to you a famous Arsenal comeback and put down “shut up yid history means nothing it is about the here and now ” well indeed it is..keep chasing : )    x

Of course we can expect a deluge of crowing from Spud supporters, they have had nothing to boast about this century and not much in the last either.

Let them have their moment of unaccustomed glory.  They know as well as we do that it won’t last.

They’re in a fantasy world at the moment but fantasies have a way of turning into harsh realities.

Enjoy your brief moment in the limelight.

Six players struggling to play at all!  Of course Arsenal have gone backwards, no side could lose the players we have to transfers let alone the injuries.

Even with the start we gave you, I am confident that we will finish above the Spuds….as usual.

How can you say your the top team in north London? Because your 9 points ahead of us with nearly half a season left! Wow. So when exactly was the last time you finished above us? Won an important cup? Challenged for the league in the final few games? Everton once finished above Liverpool but people still said Liverpool were the bigger better club, your everton were Liverpool, we’re a much much much bigger club, all your doing is show casing your good players and making bigger clubs take notice of them and they will all be sold and twitchy will be England manager then you will be mid table mediocrity again, you and Everton are the same type of club! Deal with it Arsenal will always never yet than you

One big smokebomb you are all throwing to disguise the real problem, the king is dead, Arsene is dead and the club is rudderless in stormy seas..

9/2 Swansea are on Sunday, they have lost 1 game at Home this season conceded only 4 goals and have were unlucky to lose to united to be fair and they entertain an Arzenal side with arguably the worst goals against away from home, shocking against fulham and by your own admission have even worse injuries to contend with now that then, how have the bookies priced it up at this ? you thought Fulham was tough just wait until the welsh get on your case and play you off the park..keep chucking the smokebombs and kidding yourselves along..

Fair play to the 5cum, they are flying. Give them their dues. I personally doubt they will continue especially entering the final third of the season but we are hardly setting the prem on fire this season. But they still have us to play as well as all the other big teams in Feb and March. That will be the true indicator. As for us, as long as we start seeing the return of injured players soon we should continue to pull points back. Not likely to win the league or even get second, but top four will have to do. Having said that, city were crapola last night and there are still plenty of points to be dropped by the manc clubs. interesting season fo’ sho’

Its still January and they have won fuck all.  They WILL fizzle out and they will be beaten.  All the bragggin about what? If the season ended now then fair play all justified but until the end of the league is upon us Bigsy shut your shite, 9 points is nothing. When you will have your wobble it will quickly become 6 points then 3points then your arses will go just like it does every year and you will be looking up the table at the Mighty Arsenal…again.  Tiny Totts you have a hell of a long way to go no matter how much that crooked twat tells the Sun.

People please. The king is back and ready to go. Remember Wenger knows. Spurs have a very thin squad so if they had to deal with the same injuries that we have they would certainly not be in this position. Every team has a dip in the season, injuries will occur. This isn’t over…

Spurs are playing well, they are ahead of us for a reason.

    Team Goals

    Arsenal
    RVP 17
    Gervinho 4
    TV 3
    Arteta 3
    Walcott 2

    Spuds
    Ade 9
    VDV 7
    defoe 7
    bale 7
    Lennon 3

Spurs share their goals around, which means they can afford to rotate their strikers and midfield, knowing whoever comes in goals should not be a problem. Which WILL help them later on in the season.

Tottenham have scored 2 more and conceded 8! less. Ignore the Utd game, although I don’t know why you would, and we have the same defensive record whilst we’re now behind by 4 goals.

Our midfield trio rarely score, and our wide men also equally profligate. Truth is without RVP scoring/playing we struggle.

    The Great Red Hope Wilshere

Is not going to help us going forward, he might get a couple assists but thats all. We should not gamble our season on him coming back and helping the attack for these reasons:

1 Wenger prefers him in defensive positions,
2 No way to tell what state he’ll come back in
3 Hardly a proven goal threat

Need people like Arteta, Ramsey, Rosicky and Walcott to step up, or i see  us losing games 0:1 1:2 in this second stretch with Wenger harping on about being “in the red” and “mental strength.”

Defense is shot, we have no recognised full backs, Sagna is class and would get into most sides, Santos, is OK, better than Gibbs but a crap marker which is not what you want from a player in your back 4.

Just looking at the numbers we need to bring in a full back, and someone else who can score a goal, a striker a winger or an AM i dont care. If it costs us 40 mil so be it. Losing our CL spot would severely hammer us concerning the summer transfer window (RVP and Theo contracts, and brining players in) not to mention the financial implications.

      • Davis Sf

I never said that they have been rotated more, I said they could afford to, given the way their goals are shared out.

I’ll point it out another wayThe midfield and strike-force that took started against leeds had scored 11 goals altogether. 11! Impressive no? Granted, walcott wasn’t playing if, he had started it would have been 13. (-2 that the ox had scored + theos 4). Gervinho + 2 so now 15. (-2 from arshavin + his 4. RVP has scored 21. More than that ragtag bunch altogether. hardly had leeds back to wall during that game either, if TH12 hadnt came on I doubt we would have scored. Moreover I imagine they would have pumped us on the counter.

If Tottenham lose Ade its 9 goals, not the end of the world they can still play defoe who has 7 to his name. I dont watch much of tottenham, but looking at their team I doubt Ade VDV and Defoe all play together. if VDV doesnt play I guess Defoe does. But thats 7 out and 7 in, if Ade doesnt thats 9 out and 7 in, either way no big deal. I’m not sure if I’m making it clear, but I’m trying to say is Tottenham aren’t overly reliant on one player given the way that the goals are shared out.

Wengers clearly a genius RVP is one of the best strikers in the world, and as such our attack is focused around him. But he shouldn’t assume that RVP will be available for every game, or will continue his glittering form until the end of the season, and therefore to mitigate the impact of him having an off day or being unavailable he should take actions to ensure that other team members can be relied upon to score.

Remember Klinsmann? Getting an old legend in in a crisis to paper over the cracks? It does work and it will work for us. Your crisis was the threat of relegation…because we are a big club our apparent crisis is we’r a point off the top 4. We will drop points before the season without a doubt but the Spuds cant travel and have got to go to the big boys back yard yet. When your wheels come off, it will be car crash.  You had a better team in 05/06 and we won’t need food poisoning to get us out of jail this time.
That so called 2nd string couldnt even get you out of the Europa league so can that argument bout your apparent strength in depth
