Is Jack the lad preparing for his Arsenal comeback sooner than we thought? I am only asking as the wonder that is Wilshere seems to be in the mood to play again and we know this because he has had a new pair of boots made by Nike especially for his return from injury.
Our very own wonderkid, 20, has had the boot stitched with the name of his new son Archie on it and surely this can only mean he is ready to get back in action (Lord knows we desperately need him) any time soon?
Wilshere has missed the entire season with an ankle injury aggravated in the pre-season Emirates Cup tournament but is close to returning to full training before the end of this month or possibly the start of February.
Bolton away on Wednesday night will be too soon but could he make the squad for the game against Blackburn at the Emirates on Feb 4? Or Sunderland at the Stadium of Light a week later, perhaps?
What that means, of course, is that he could well be in full swing come February 15 and a certain date in Italy when the Arsenal travel to Milan to face AC in the Champions League. Now, that WOULD be a timely boost.
Since the departure of Cesc Fabregas to Barxcelona in the summer, we have struggled to be as creative in midfield as we once were despite the best efforts of Mik Arteta. Wilshere’s comeback would not only lift the squad – after all, we are going into the FA Cup game with Villa at the Emirates on Sunday with three back-to-back defeats – but the fans, too.
At this point I should tell you that there are a lot of wild rumours doing the rounds on Twitter etc that Jack has suffered an injury setback and the line is he “is likely to miss the rest of the season”. But so far this tale has attracted no credence and it would seem inappropriate for him to have new boots delivered if this was the case, right?
Fingers crossed we’ll see him in an Arsenal shirt sooner rather than later.
Meanwhile, Manu Frimpong – currently on loan at Wolves where he is winning new friends and, yes, influencing people (anyone else think we should have kept him at Arsenal – can’t do a lot worse than who we have at the minute and at least he shows guts and gumption) continues to revel in his fame.
Check out his latest hair-do…now HE has been Frimponged!
