Crocked Arsenal star Wilshere ‘out for season’

Arsenal star Jack Wilshere looks almost certain to miss the rest of the season after scans showed his latest injury setback is worse than first feared. The Daily Mail is reporting that our boy wonder is now even doubtful for England’s Euro 2012 campaign as he is unlikely to feature at all for us this season.

Wilshere has missed the entire campaign with a stress fracture of his right ankle, which needed surgery. He was expected to return this month but broke down in training last week. But the paper says he has since had a series of scans to see the extent of the injury and the results show he has suffered another stress fracture in the same ankle.

Yet Wenger revealed after Sunday’s 3-2 FA Cup win over Aston Villa that Wilshere’s fresh injury scare could be only a minor setback. He said: “We have no real news yet. The first news we have had is better than expected. He is not in a boot, but I don’t know more.

“His morale looks quite good and I hope it will only be a short setback. There will be more tests this week. I do not know yet when he will start training. I would not like to make any mistake in my statement, because I did not speak to the medical people today.”

The club have said nothing of the news thus far.
