M’Vila Interested In Signing For Arsenal
Rennes star Yann M’Vila has revealed that he is keen to sign for Arsenal in the upcoming transfer window.
The 21-year-old defensive midfielder, who is currently representing France at Euro 2012, is widely expected to leave his current club this summer. While he won’t take a final decision on his future until the end of the European championship, he has admitted that Arsenal are an attractive proposition for him.
The £17 million-rated Frenchman told the Daily Star: “I have heard Arsenal are interested in me. I like Arsenal and I like the Premier League. I don’t know what is happening with the clubs, but yes, I would be interested in the Premier League and Arsenal.”
Giroud Refuses to Discuss Club Future
Several news agencies recently claimed that French striker Olivier Giroud is on the verge of signing for Arsenal but the player in question is refusing to talk to the press about his club future.
In addition to Arsenal, several other European clubs such as Fenerbahce, Bayern Munich and Borussia Mönchengladbach are interested in signing the Montpellier hitman, who scored 25 league goals for the Ligue 1 champions last season.
While Giroud is happy to be on the wish list of so many clubs, he says that now is not the time to discuss his club future, as he wants to be completely focused on France’s ongoing Euro 2012 campaign.
“It’s nice that people talk about me but I can’t talk about my future right now,” he told the Daily Star.
Podolski Wants to Impress Gooners
German striker Lukas Podolski has revealed that he is trying to impress the Arsenal fans and not the manager Arsene Wenger with his performances at Euro 2012.
The 26-year-old has told the press that Wenger is already aware of his qualities and therefore, he doesn’t have to prove himself to the Frenchman. Instead, he is trying to show his qualities to the Gooners, who will be able to witness his skills at Emirates Stadium in a few months’ time.
Podolski said: “I don’t think I have anything to prove to Arsene Wenger. He has seen me play several times and knows what I can do. I think it is clear that my transfer was no accident and, of course, I’m very glad I signed with Arsenal.
“In fact, what has really pleased me is that Arsenal fans can watch me play in a tournament like this and realise what I’m capable of at the highest level. Very soon I will also show that in London.”
Real and Juventus Interested In Walcott?
The Sun has claimed that Theo Walcott could leave Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer of 2013. While the media focus has been on Robin van Persie’s contractual situation, the fact that Walcott also only has just a year left on his deal has gone largely unnoticed.
According to The Sun, the England international will extend his stay at Arsenal only if the club successfully re-signs his good friend van Persie. In case, the Gunners fail to do so, then Juventus would be more than happy to take Walcott to Italy for free next year.
An unnamed insider told the paper: “It seems unbelievable the club has left it until well into the last year of the contracts and still not managed to get either player sorted.”
Moreover, the paper claims that Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho could also be interested in signing the suddenly in-demand Walcott.
Arsenal Slap £30 Million Price Tag on RVP – Report
According to a report published by the Mirror, Arsenal will make Robin van Persie available for £30 million, if he refuses to sign their £130,000-a-week contract offer.
While it doesn’t necessarily mean that the Dutch striker’s time in London is up, the club has made it clear to his potential suitors that they would have to pay big money in order to sign him.
Even though the alleged figure is high for a player who will soon turn 29 and has only a year left on his current contract, rich clubs such as PSG, Anzhi, Juventus and Manchester City shouldn’t have any problem in stumping up the cash.
