£30m deal to keep Cesc
by CARL ELDRIDGE Arsenal will offer Cesc Fabregas a new five-year deal that will make him the highest paid player in our history, according to this morning's Sunday Mirror.
The red top claims that despite having three years to run on his Âcurrent contract, the board will sanction a £120,000 a-week deal to ensure the 22-year-old Spaniard stays at the ÂEmirates.
And it adds that the lure of a £30million contract could ensure ÂFabregas rejects overtures from Barcelona and Real Madrid.
In the News of the World AW claims England's treatment of Theo Walcott made him 'uncertain and insecure'. Wenger said: "It's very important for a player to know where he is. And when he goes to national teams and he is moved up and down, he gets uncertain and insecure and you lose him at both levels.
"When you are a football player, you want to know you belong here. And once you have made that step, and then you have to go back, you question yourself. And basically, that is what happened to Theo.
"I am not frustrated - I have an explanation. What has stopped Theo Walcott is injuries - and nothing else. I can understand why people are starting to question him because there is always an instant judgement.
"But I wouldn't question Theo Walcott because I am convinced he will be a great player. He is strong enough. He is very strong. He has gone through two shoulders and that takes much longer than people expect.
"Theo started late. At 12 years of age. Of course that sounds ridiculous but most of the players start playing the game at seven, eight, nine or ten. You get your acquisitions, technically, between seven and 12.
"But technically, he has improved a lot since coming to Arsenal. What Theo has in his favour is that he learns quickly because he is intelligent. But you learn from the games you play. He has missed too many games. It is impossible in modern sport to be away for three months and then to come back at the same level."
The Mail todays says that AW Wenger will surely be spending some of his £35million transfer fund this summer, as we were involved in three last-minute deals on transfer deadline day which failed to go through.
AW was close to bringing in two players on loan, including a centre forward, and another on an initial loan with a view to a permanent move. The paper says it was a dramatic move by the club, the day after their dispiriting 3-1 defeat at home by Manchester United, and not adding to the squad in the final hours may well leave them short for the rest of this season.
But it does seem to indicate that AW is ready to spend money in the summer to add the finishing touches to his team, claims the paper.
Right, where's my ticket? I'm off to cheer on the rip-roaring Red machine -- COYG!

we all want him to go. to little to late. he should have won 4 years ago so even winning cl this year is just to late!!!
I want Cesc to stay but if he wants to win anything he would be better off with a move to Barca.
We are not going to win anything with Wenger. I don't believe a word he says anymore.
http://11gunners.com/opinion/6-must-do%E2%80%99s-as-arsenal-await-another-6-pointer/3063/
and u generalise when u say most arsenal fans want wenger out. i doubt u have any scientifically conclusive research to prove this, but if u do, please show it to me, so i can understand how pathetic, stupid and short-sighted arsenal fans are which makes me wonder that they're not spuds.
it is too easy to judge a man when u've never walked in tt man's shoes. u also obviously have a lot to learn about man-management, especially if you do intend to be, or already are a manager at work or achieve a job of any real economic significance.
anyway, i'd rather arsenal have less supporters, if, according to u, most r whining little poodles like u. wenger has been doing a great job. yes, he's made mistakes but getting into the top 4 with what he has had for spending in the past 6 or 7 years is an amazing feat, especially since the other teams have increased their spending and the league is getting very competitive. dun get me wrong, i want to win a competition too, but we have got to be realistic here.
If you are that dissatisfied, our noisy neighbours sign a lot of players and are really amazing they win trophies every year and consistently finish in the top four. You should really think about joining them, I think you'd fit right in!!!
@ d, correspondents on blogs such as this and others number only a few hundred and in no way are they representative of the hundreds of thousands of Arsenal supporters around the world.
Just because you and a few like minded mates, down the pub, think you know better than a professional football manager doesn't give you the right to quote "most Arsenal fans".
Instead of just repeating the words of those "at Le Grove" who "know it all" try forming your own opinions.
Its like being at church, full of brain washed people.
I am off to a blog to talk with fans of Arsenal FC and not Wenger FC
We need 3 'The finished article' players, and in my opinion a defensive coach to come in.
These players need to be versed in the art of defending, if AW and Pat Rice can't do it, then they need to find someone who can.
We dominated most of todays game but again our defensive frailties and our inability to handle the DROG has cost us.
To go to the bridge and dominate in the fashion that we did reinforces my belief in this team, but Wenger really needs to actr, he MUST make the necessary changes in the summer otherwise even the most ardent AW supporters will start to question him.
