Mertesacker Could Be Available For £6million

Arsenal have been alerted by Werder Bremen’s announcement that they are willing to listen to offers for captain Per Mertesacker.

The giant centre-back has been linked with a move to the Emirates Stadium for several years and manager Arsene Wenger may now attempt to complete a deal.

Mertesacker has entered the final year of his contract at Bremen, who made a winning start to their new Bundesliga campaign on Saturday but were embarrassingly dumped out of the German Cup in the first round against lower league opposition.

And, having struggled to meet valuations of Everton’s Phil Jagielka and Blackburn’s Chris Samba, Arsenal could therefore think a bid in the region of £6million would have a good chance of signing the 26-year-old Germany international.

Bremen general manager Klaus Allofs is quoted as saying in The People: “We are willing to discuss a transfer for Per.

“We have promised him we will listen to serious offers.”

Once again, Wenger missed a golden opportunity with Mata, for that his head should role…but redemption could be partly found with the capture of Mertersacker, who I reckon would be the most talented CB we’ve had since Adams.

S**t the pro Wenger’s got to my comment :'(

      • HighburyJD

or possibly the spelling sticklers – heads roll they don’t role dude.

  • Mertsacker will be no use to us with the high line we play if we change tactics and drop 20yds then we have a good stopper but if he has to turn i’ve seen ferries turn quicker.

Who cares how much he is? Wenger won’t sign him. He’ll just stick with Squllacci and watch him flounder. Good Times.

6 million according to who? All i heard was the manager say they’d listen to a serious offer. 6 mill is not a serious offer for a German international with 75 caps.

    • Donnie

it is when his in his last year of his contract and his not signing a new one,

  • One rover

At 6 million he should come to Blackburn him and samba at the back would be great

  • ne

he is slow, typical to squilaci. But like what glen said, if our defense drop 20 yard down, he and even squilaci can do it..other then that, all the pacey player will take turn to run him down in our current tactic..

  • Okot David Alfred De Gunner 4ever

Yes we need veteran defender to play alongside Vammalen make it done before 12/Aug,so that we beleave in your intrest.

  • Malik

    @terry true that brother

but squillaci needs 2 go no matter what (with the defensive coach n medical team) i don’t care if we get a new Cb i’d rather play bendtner then squilaci just him gone n i’ll b satisfied at least a tiny bit

  • Sceptical

If he’s on the market for 6 million Wenger will bid 3 million and we won’t get him.. Instead we’ll have to listen to Wenger and Gazidis saying the club worked tirelessly trying to sign him.. or anyone else for a matter of fact.

  • enfield

Sneijder & Van persie in the same team…
