EXCLUSIVE: Arsenal line up summer tour of America

Arsenal are set to go on tour to America next summer, Arsenalinsider has been told.
A senior source at the Emirates has informed us that Arsene Wenger’s side are being lined up for a game in Boston.
The Gunners are also planning to return to Austria for a training camp, we understand.
Wenger’s outfit have spent the past three summers travelling Asia visiting China, Malaysia, Japan, Vietnam and Indonesia.
Prior to trips to the Far East, the Gunners played friendly matches in Europe and based themselves at Bad Waltersdorf in Austria – a known favourite destination for Wenger.
And this is once more being considered as place to prepare for next year’s campaign.
Premier League big guns such as Manchester United and Chelsea have visited the US many times and have enjoyed an upsurge of support from across the pond.
Now the Arsenal hierarchy believe the time is right to enjoy a star-spangled summer visit.
Our insider said: “The club are fully aware that commercially America has been largely untapped and that taking the brand to the US is critical to the club’s ongoing development.
“There are already a number of well-established Arsenal supporters clubs in America but the market there is huge and as a business decision going there makes perfect sense.
“Through our visits over recent years the club has established and maintained fantastic support in the Far East and are always ready to explore commercial links in Asia.
“But it now looks unlikely that the team will visit Asia again this summer with focus on America – and Boston in particular – while there is also a consideration being given to Austria.”
Arsenal’s billionaire American owner Stan Kroenke is based in Colorado – where he owns a number of sports franchises – so it is not beyond the realms of possibility that the Gunners will also visit Denver to play a game.
With the World Cup being held in Brazil it looks likely to be a busy summer for Arsenal players one way or another.
