African Cup of Nations Watch

Cameroon 2-2 Tunisia (Lubango)
Thursday, Jan 21

Alex Song will be part of another African Cup of Nations quarter-final, after Cameroon’s draw with Tunisia was just enough to see them qualify as group winners. The Arsenal man had his bags packed and his boarding pass handy at half-time but was rejoicing come the final whistle.
The Lions were against it as early as the opening minute when Chermiti headed in, but it was Samuel Eto’o who drew Paul Le Guen’s side level for a second time to gain the point needed. There was more comical defending, ‘keeping, and officiating, with one linesman getting six out of seven offside decisions wrong. The Tunisians saw red late on and Song kept his calm to see Cameroon through.
Group D was extremely tight going into the last round of games. In the end, Cameroon, Zambia and Gabon all finished on four points. Cameroon and Zambia qualified on goals scored. Now the team in green will play Egypt.
