Sp*rs 1-0 Arsenal: Player Ratings

After bringing in the ex-Dortmund boys, spanking Everton, and Sp*rs dropping points, you’d expect the team to be able to pull something together. However, it wasn’t much different from any of our other miserable away performances.

Petr Cech – 8.0

His best performance so far this season came at just the right time. Couldn’t do much about the goal, but made 6 saves total. Kept the game close when it really could’ve gotten out of hand.

Hector Bellerin – 6.5

Was once again left alone on the right-hand side. Sp*rs tried to take advantage of this fact but he held his ground making 5 clearances, 3 tackles, and 6 blocks. His cross to Lacazette in the 90th minute should’ve been put away. Was the best defender on the day.

Shkodran Mustafi – 5.5

Made 5 clearances and 4 interceptions (led all players). Looked shaky at times under possession but made the most passes on the team.

Laurent Koscielny – 5.0

Cleaner passing than Mustafi and made some good defensive headers, but he registered only 1 interception and didn’t even jump on Kane’s header.

Nacho Monreal – 5.0

A disappointing performance considering how well he’s performed recently. A sub 80% pass completion rate is not what you want when you play out the back. Didn’t track back as much as he should’ve either, leaving Mustafi and Koscielny alone on several counters.

Mohamed Elneny – 5.0

CDMs are deployed to impose themselves on the midfield. He registered only one tackle and clearance, and no interceptions. However, it seemed to be more of a matter of Sp*rs heading down the flanks than him being dominated. Elneny didn’t see too much of the ball before he was taken off in the 65th minute.

Jack Wilshere – 6.5

Seemed to be one of the few players fired up for the derby. Completed 4 dribbles to lead the team. Passed well, but should’ve been the starting point for more possessions. His through ball to Aubameyang could’ve changed the course of the game had not been flagged offside.

Granit Xhaka – 5.5

I keep saying that if we had a solid defensive structure and an imposing CDM, Xhaka would be great for us. He distributed the ball accurately but looked weak on defence as usual.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 5.0

A completely different performance compared to the one against Everton. He tried to be creative, but all of his passes were just off. He had one howler in particular from inside the Spurs box that went over everyone. Let’s hope this is a one-off.

Mesut Ozil – 6.0

Despite not being able to leave his mark on the game and performing poor defensively, he still had 2 key passes out of Arsenal’s 4.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – 5.0

Could’ve been a completely different game had he not been wrongly flagged offside. Kept trying to make runs but faded away even more when Lacazette pushed him out wide.

Alexandre Lacazette – 4.0

Really had the perfect chance to earn his spot back in the team. Scuffed both opportunities to bring the score level which will only hurt his confidence even more. Let’s hope some Europa league action can bring it back.

Alex Iwobi – 4.5

A quintessential Iwobi performance. Made some bad passes and struggled to do anything good in the final third and then made a killer pass out of nowhere that Lacazette should’ve put away.

Danny Welbeck – N/A

Was barely on long enough to register for much.
