Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believed Mesut Ozil had blundered as he bamboozled Ludogorets defenders for his wonder goal as they came from two down to win 3-2 and reach the Champions League last 16.
Ozil snatched a late winner as he chipped the ball over the keeper before beating two defenders and placing the ball into the empty net then ran to the travelling Gunners fans to celebrate.
Wenger said: “To me it didn’t look like the optimal solution, but when the ball was in the net I thought it was. The great players make the right decisions in the game situations they face. They always make the optimal solution”.
“You wanted him to take maybe his chance earlier, but at the end he had enough skill to prove that he was right”.
Arsenal are currently top of Group A with 10 points, the same number as PSG, who they face at the Emirates on November 23.
And the north London outfit are nine points ahead of both Ludogorets and Basel with two games left.
Ozil’s sublime goal took the focus away from some awful defending by the visitors early on that resulted in them trailing 2-0 after just 15 minutes.
But the Bulgarians couldn’t hold on to the lead and Arsenal managed to go into the break level with goals from Granit Xhaka and Olivier Giroud.
The Gunners host PSG then go to Basel in the final group game on December 6.
