It seems strange to announce pre season friendly games when the season is still in full flow, but that’s exactly what the club has done. To make matters worse, one of the games will be against Bayern Munich. That’s not at all awkward after being on the receiving end of a pasting by the German club in the Champions League. Arsenal will also play Chelsea in the International Champions Cup in China.
The Mail is reporting that Arsenal players face losing their bonuses if they fail to qualify for the Champions League. It also mentions that some players may have to take pay cuts if they fail to qualify also. It would be the first time they would have failed to qualify since 1997.
Transfer news in
According to the report in the Express, Arsenal are planning a bid for La Liga defender Florian Lejeune. The Eibar defender was on Manchester City’s books, however they released him last year. The Frenchman has been a key player for the Spanish side this season. Lejeune would cost around £8.7m and Arsenal are considering triggering his release clause.
Transfer news out
The Times has reported that West Ham are interested in signing Arsenal striker Lucas Perez. The 28 year old has not really been given a full run of games despite scoring 6 goals and assisting 5 in 21 appearances.
Arsenal seem keen to keep the Spanish star after turning down a bid from a Chinese Super League club in January, thought to be in the region of £26m.
Perez has recently stated he is happy at the club.
The Daily Star has reported that Arsenal coach Boro Primorac is set to leave the team and take up the manager’s role of Turkish club, Konyaspor. Primorac has worked alongside Wenger for the past 20 years. Whether this is an indication that Arsene Wenger is leaving at the end of the season remains to be seen.
It seems that the Arsene Wenger out supporters have raised over £2000 so far in the hope of having enough money to fly a banner with Wenger out over the stadium. They need another £1000 to achieve their goal.
With Sevilla manager Jorge Sampaoli stating he would welcome the chance to manage Alexis Sanchez again, the rumour mill has gone into overdrive insisting Sampaoli is sending a huge hint he would be interested in managing Arsenal.
Bournemouth and Jack
Interesting to read how Bournemouth are managing Jack Wilshere and reducing his training before games in order to keep him fit. They did admit Wilshere has been frustrated by this but it this means the English international is able to play regular football, it makes a lot of sense.
