According to manager Arsene Wenger, Mesut Ozil is blossoming in his new role just behind the front striker. Wenger was pleased with the Germans contribution and feels he is enjoying the role. The club have switched to 3-4-3 formation in recent weeks which has seen a major turnaround for the clubs results and confidence.
Wenger added that individually, when the confidence is high in the team, then you see all the players playing well. A number of players have certainly benefited from the change and results and performances have improved match by match.
Bellerin swap deal
Reports from Spain have mentioned that Arsenal have approached Barcelona over a possible swap deal involving right-back Hector Bellerin moving to Spain with Arda Turan and Marc Cucurella transferring in the opposite direction.
Turan was excellent at Atletico Madrid but has failed to hit the same heights since moving to the Nou Camp, but remains on Wenger’s potential transfer targets.
Cucurella is an 18-year-old defender who has attracted interest from Chelsea and Real Madrid. The highly rated academy player’s contract is due to run out in the summer and as yet some confusion over whether he will sign for Barcelona or look to move on.
According to reports Arsenal and Barcelona have been discussing Bellerin for some time, but the Spanish giants were not willing to pay Arsenal’s £34m valuation for the 22-year-old.
Cavani welcomes Sanchez
Edinson Cavani has said Alexis Sanchez would be welcome at Paris Saint-Germain should the forward decide to leave Arsenal. Cavani feels the forward would improve the team, however Arsenal are still hopeful that Sanchez will sign a new contract in the summer.
Arsene Wenger hopes to sign Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez and Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson.
Mahrez was close to signing for the club last summer after an impressive season with Leicester but a move failed to materialise. The Algerian may not have had his best season this year but Wenger is still very keen to bring him to the club. Mahrez would cost in the region of £30m.
Gibson has had a good season with Middlesbrough despite his team being relegated from the Premier League and Wenger it seems is an admirer of the centre back.
Arsenal after Liverpool wonder kid
