The Loan Report

Calum Chambers – Middlesbrough

Middlesbrough made difficult work to overcome League One opponents Oxford United in the 5th Round of the FA Cup. Calum was booked during his 90 minutes of the game which was almost thrown away by the home side. Cruising 2-0 ahead at half time, the Premier League side conceded two goals in as many minutes to set up a nervy end. Four minutes from time however and Middlesbrough scored to send them through to the Quarter Final.

Wojciech Szczesny – Roma

It was another impressive display for the Polish stopper as his side kept up their impressive run in the league. Although he conceded once, he still made some good saves to keep Torino out in the 4-1 victory. Wojciech has kept 11 clean sheet in his 25 games this season.

Takuma Asano – VfB Stuttgart

The forward played just under an hour in his side’s 2-1 win over FC Heidenheim. It was his replacement, Brekalo who scored the stunning winner to keep them top of the league. Asano did not have much impact during his time on the pitch, but could be offered another start next time out.

Daniel Crowley – Go Ahead Eagles

Although he put in a good performance in his 90 minutes for the relegation threatened Eredivisie side, they could not prevent a 1-0 away to Roda JC.

Chuba Akpom – Brighton

Akpom came on for the final two minutes of the 2-0 win at Barnsley. The game was already over when he made his appearance and had little time to impress. Earlier in the week he came on for nine minutes in the 1-1 draw against Ipswich but again could not change the result.

Stephy Mavididi – Charlton Athletic

His introduction in the 64th minute sparked an impressive display but he was unable to score in the 3-3 draw against Rochdale. Just two minutes after being introduced, Stephy ran the length of the pitch, beating four men, only to see his shot saved. Earlier in the week he started and played 81 minutes in the 1-0 loss away at Oldham.

Krystian Bielik – Birmingham

The 19 year old defender was handed his debut for Birmingham in their mid week defeat away at Preston. Although he put in a good performance and made some good challenges, he ultimately lost his starting place in the weekend visit of Queens Park Rangers. Birmingham also lost that game 4-1 and are now 14th in the league.

Marc Bola – Notts County

Starting and playing the full game in their 3-2 win at Leyton Orient, Marc was able to assist the goal which sealed the points for County. Into the latter stages of the game, it was Bola’s superb skill and pass which set up Jon Stead for the winning goal 6 minutes from time.

Matt Macey – Luton Town

Matt started the 1-1 draw with Doncaster and kept a clean sheet for 80 minutes until a close range effort beat him.

Gedion Zelalem (VVV-Venlo) was an unused substitute.

Jon Toral (Rangers) was not selected as part of the match day squad.

Jack Wilshere (Bournemouth) had no fixture due to them being eliminated from the FA Cup.
