One day you’re almost scoring a wonder goal, running the length of the pitch taking players on left, right and centre and the next you’re being sent back to your club after picking up a nasty hamstring injury which needs surgery. The Arsenal youngster could be out for as long as 16 weeks, which unfortunately ends his season. Charlton manager has said on Mavididi, “he’s been a credit to his family and to Arsenal FC and we’d love to have him back next year”
Youth player Nathan Tella has been told he can leave in the summer after failing to impress the club. Apparently Norwich and Reading are both interest in his signature.
January failed bid
According to reports today, Arsenal had a £25.7m bid for Juventus centre back Daniele Rugani rejected. Arsenal have been monitoring the 22-year-old and have been impressed with him so far. Rugani has started 11 times for the Italian club this season.
Now the Evening Standard have reported how Arsenal risk losing Jack Wilshere, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kieran Gibbs. The trio have less than 18 months left on their contracts, but according to Arsene Wenger, he wants the three English men to stay.
Some Internet sites are reporting Arsenal are scouting Portuguese international striker Andre Silva. The Porto man is also wanted by Marseille. The 21-year-old is clearly on form with 18 goals in all competitions so far this season.
Reports coming out of Germany today with the news that Bayern Munich have first option on ex-Arsenal winger Serge Gnabry. Wenger had said earlier this year that he felt Bayern were behind Gnabry’s move to Werder Bremen. The young German has been in fine form scoring 10 goals in 21 Bundesliga matches.
Early team news
After the good news that Laurent Koscielny and Aaron Ramsey had returned to full training, there is bad news with talk of Mesut Ozil arriving for training only to be sent home by the doctors with flu. Ozil was out the night before with the rest of the squad in a bowling bonding session. Arsenal hope that he will recover in time to be fit to face Liverpool at the weekend.
Manager merry go round
With Luis Enrique confirming he will leave Barcelona at the end of the season, could we see a manger merry go round with Enrique going one way and Wenger the other? Stranger things have happened.
