Arsenal may look back with regret at failing to sign 22-year-old Chelsea forward Mykhaylo Mudryk.

The Ukrainian winger, who joined the club in January, has started to really impress in pre-season.

In a recent interview with the Evening Standard, Mudryk said that Chelsea fans have only seen 20 per cent of his potential.

That comes after the winger scored an excellent goal when linking up with fellow new signing Nicolas Jackson.

Arsenal endured a long pursuit for 22-year-old Mudryk before conceding defeat to rivals Chelsea when they considered the move too expensive.

Arteta turned to the signing of Leoandro Trossard – which has by no means been a failure.

But when you see the excitement around Mudryk in pre-season, it begs the question, did Arsenal let one go?

Mudryk was quite public in his desire to join Arsenal and posted several cryptic messages outlining his interest. However, a move to the Emirates never materialised, and he instead made the trip across London to Stamford Bridge.

Whilst he joined during difficult circumstances, Chelsea having a torrid season, he hasn’t excelled in the Premier League thus far. That has led to Arsenal fans understandably thinking they got the better deal in moving for Trossard.

While that may well be true, Mudryk is now showing the potential that was driving Arteta’s interest.

Arsenal may curse Chelsea’s Mudryk move

Mikel Arteta and Arsenal’s interest in Mykhaylo Mudryk seemed very strong at the time, and that might now cause concern when seeing this form.

Of course, these performances have come in pre-season friendlies, but Mudryk is showing all the electric ability Arsenal fans were once craving.

Put simply. Arsenal may really regret missing out on the £100k-a-week Ukrainian as the season goes on.

Mauricio Pochettino already seems to be getting a tune out of the winger and could be the man to help unlock all of his potential.

With several players leaving Chelsea over the summer the path has been cleared for the 20-year-old and he could now have his time.
