Arsene defends Xhaka better than Xhaka defends for Arsene, plane protest about Arsene’s lack of plan B has no plan B and rumours

Afternoon Bulletin

The defence of Xhaka

Manager Arsene Wenger has jumped to the defence of Granit Xhaka and believes he is a victim of his own reputation due to his tough tackling.

Wenger feels he gets booked for a soft foul initially which then means the player is then walking a tight rope for the rest of the match. Wenger did say he is concerned with how Xhaka goes into the challenge.

Xhaka has been sent off nine times in three years.

Jack and Eddie

Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe has spoken of his desire to keep Jack Wilshere at the club, after his loan spell has ended. Howe has been impressed with Wilshere so far this season and also his attitude. Howe said that no talks have begun over the England midfielder’s future while the season is in full swing but hopes to talk to him in the summer.

Primorac on Wenger

According to Arsenal coach Boro Primorac, Arsene Wenger has no plans to leave the club at the end of the season and said it’s not all about results but also a business.

Primorac said “Wenger isn’t considering leaving Arsenal. Of course it is ugly to lose 5-1 twice in the Champions League, even though it came versus Bayern. We understand how fans are not happy, neither are we”.

Primorac went on to add, “it is not all about results, but also business part of the club that matters”. This will not please supporters on the ‘Wenger out’ side of the fence.

Protest plane

Talking of the ‘Wenger out’ side of the fence, it seems the ‘Wenger out: No new contract’ banner to be flown over The Hawthorns on Saturday maybe in jeopardy. Storm Stella may potentially mean the flight could be cancelled.

Transfer rumours

Arsenal are being linked with RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita. The 22 year old joined the club from RB Salzburg and has been in good form for Leipzig.

Apparently Gilles Grimandi watched the recent Champions League match of Manchester City versus Monaco. Grimandi was said to be scouting Kylian Mbappe and Benjamin Mendy.

According to reports Liverpool have beaten Arsenal to the signing of Fulham wonderkid Ryan Sessegnon. The 16 year old left back has been in excellent form this season, scoring six goals and assisting in three in his 23 appearances.

Team news

It seems Mohamed Elneny and Danny Welbeck are both match fit and could start against West Bromwich Albion today.

Surprisingly, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was in training on Friday and could yet feature in the game after his hamstring injury. There may be concerns of aggravating the injury so he may have to settle for a place on the bench.
