You have got to love an April fool joke with some reports of Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger leaving after a major bust-up with the players, and then a classic of Arsenal having to ground share at the Emirates Stadium with North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur. I wonder how many fell for these yesterday morning, although the Wenger April fool joke was probably wishful thinking for some Arsenal supporters.
Toral on Bellerin staying
Jon Toral, currently on loan at Glasgow Rangers, believes Hector Bellerin will stay at Arsenal for many years to come, despite the rumours of a move away to Barcelona. Bellerin is under contract until 2021. According to reports, Arsenal have slapped a £42m price tag on the Spanish full back.
Arsenal Supporters Trust wants Wenger out
The Arsenal supporters trust have urged Arsene Wenger to leave after 78% of its members voted against Wenger signing a new deal. Of course, this is only a view of a small minority with the trust having 1000 members but it continues to be damaging to the club.
The Daily Mirror are still are running with the story of Arsenal’s interest in Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye. The Senegal international is valued at £9m and seems the club will make a bid in the summer.
Another player mentioned to be catching Arsenal’s eye is Middlesbrough centre-back, Ben Gibson. With Arsenal still struggling at centre-back, Gibson would be a good addition to the club. Gibson would cost around £30m.
Everton, Newcastle and Middlesbrough are all interested in Arsenal centre-back Calum Chambers. With Chambers impressing on loan at Middlesbrough, a bid of over £10m would seal his signature.
Also on their way out according to reports are Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere, Wojciech Szczesny, Yaya Sanogo, Mathieu Debuchy, David Ospina and Joel Campbell. If Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil also both leave it, could be a new look Arsenal squad come next season. A reason to be excited again for the Arsenal faithful.
In regards to Jack Wilshere, West Ham have now entered the race to possibly sign the midfielder. It would be some signing for the London club if they managed to sign him in the summer.
New kit deal
Arsenal have agreed a new kit deal with Adidas. The deal is reportedly been agreed for £180m and is due to start ready for the 2018/19 season.
