After two years of winning back-to-back FA Cup titles, Arsenal crashed out of the competition at the hands of Watford and the Premier League crown remains their only semi-realistic target this season. The latest Arsenal News is the Gunners have struggled for consistency in the league recently but have the players to turn their form around and nine wins might be enough to pip both Leicester City and north London rivals Tottenham Hotspur to the title.
For the majority of the campaign, Arsene Wenger has gone with Olivier Giroud as the focal point in attack but it may be time for the Arsenal boss to use Danny Welbeck in a more central and effective role. Welbeck has been injured for the majority of the season but scored a last-gasp header against Leicester on his return to the side in February. Arsenal need to make big changes if they’re to go on a potentially title-winning run.
As of March 14th, the Gunners are priced at 11/2 to win the Premier League title with Betway – and on current form, they’ll struggle to achieve that. But it’s not over yet. Arsenal have one of the most talented squads in the top flight and on their day, they can beat anybody in the league. With nine “cup finals” remaining, there’s still plenty of opportunities for points to be won and lost.
If given the opportunity to lead the line, Welbeck could be the key to Arsenal’s chances of snatching the title in one of the most dramatic campaigns in Premier League history. There are still plenty of twists and turns to go and until it’s mathematically impossible, Arsenal still have a chance of getting their hands on the English crown for the first time since 2004 – especially if Welbeck continues to pop up with crucial goals.
If nothing else, Welbeck will be looking to play his way into Roy Hodgson’s Euro 2016 squad this summer. The England international won’t be the only representative from Arsenal and Gunners fans will be keeping a close eye on all of their players.
Arsenal fans should try to remain positive ahead of the final two months of the season. The title race is still open and a couple of poor results for Leicester and Tottenham will bring Arsenal back into the mix. With a bit of luck, the Gunners could still go on to lift the title this season – especially if Welbeck finds his feet in front of goal.
