Disaster against Swansea City

Arsenal were stunned on Tuesday by bottom of the league Swansea City after losing a one nil lead to then concede three goals.

The Gunners opened up the scoring in the game with a moment of brilliance from Mesut Ozil who picked out a very hot Nacho Monreal who beat former Gunner Fabianski in net.

It didn’t take long for The Swans to respond at all when Swansea’s record signing Sam Clucas beat Petr Cech at his near post to equalise for the hosts.

Petr Cech had a moment to forget when he badly misplaced his kick for it to fall straight to Ghanian international Jordan Ayew for him to be granted the easiest goal he will ever score.

Swansea weren’t finished there! Sam Clucas bagged his brace late on in the game to end Arsenal’s hopes of bringing three points away from Wales.

Despite the poor result Arsenal fans were happy to see their new boy Henrikh Mkhitaryan make an appearance and kickstart his Arsenal career.

MOTM (Man Of The Match) – Alfie Mawson

Another superb defensive play and a super assist for the equalising goal once again enhanced Alfie Mawson’s credentials. Could he yet make the England World Cup squad?

THE STATS (The Statistics)

Swansea have won consecutive Premier League games for the first time this season.

Carlos Carvalhal is just the fifth manager to win his first two matches against Arsene Wenger’s Arsenal in all competitions (also Alex Ferguson, Luis Enrique, John Gregory and Roy Evans).

Arsenal have only taken 13 points away from home this season, their second fewest at this stage of a Premier League season (2005-06, 12)

Arsenal have lost 15 points from winning positions this season in the Premier League – only Watford have dropped more (16).

Nacho Monreal has scored four goals in his 21 Premier League games this season, after managing one in his previous five top-flight campaigns with Arsenal (134 games).

All three of Sam Clucas’s top-flight goals for Swansea have come against Arsenal, and have come with his only three shots on target for the Welsh side in the Premier League.

Aubameyang signs

It is the moment every Arsenal fan has been waiting for since the first day of January, and it has come on the last!

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was officially announced as an Arsenal player yesterday and social media has been going crazy!

Even fans from other clubs are buzzing to see Aubameyang in the Premier League.

Here is what Arsenal’s new man said in his first interview with his new club…

Pierre, after all the talk and all the speculation, you’re finally an Arsenal player. How does it feel?

“Finally! I’m really happy to be here. Of course I can join Micki in this team, so I’m really happy to be here in this great team.”

What is it about Arsenal that you like so much, that appealed to you?

“I think the club has such a big history and great players like Thierry Henry. He’s an example for us strikers. I’m really happy, like I said before.”

How would you describe your playing style?

“I’m a fast player and I score goals too, like Henry a little bit. But as I said, I have to work a lot more.”

Finally, what’s your message to the Arsenal fans?

“I hope that we will come back to the top as soon as possible. I will do my best to join in.”

More transfer news…

IN – Mesut Ozil

At last, at last at last at last! Mesut Ozil has reportedly signed a new three and a half year deal with The Gunners! Many fans are shocked to hear the news especially because they though he would follow his right-hand man Alexis Sanchez to Manchester.

OUT – Olivier Giroud

Although it is brilliant to see Aubameyang in an Arsenal kit, it REALLY hurts seeing Giroud in a Chelsea kit! After a long five and a half year journey with the Reds, he has departed with them to join the Blues. Giroud scored over 100 goals for Arsenal and saved Arsene Wenger’s job a few times I must say! The fee for the Frenchman is believed to be around £18million which is a real bargain in todays market.

Are you sad to see Giroud go or was it the right decision? Tweet us @ArsenalInsider what you think as we would love to hear what you have to say!
