Well, would you believe it? It seems as if progress is on the Arsenal horizon with chief bod Ivan Gazidis seemingly open to ideas from Gooners on improving the atmosphere at the Emirates. Revealtions this morning on Twitter suggest that the club are pondering the option of booting away fans upstairs in the Clock End, thus allowing home supporters cheaper seats and improving the unity at that end.
I’d argue that the majority of noise we do make at home games comes from the lower tiers, largely (although the upper chaps do join in granted) and this move would surely increase the decibels.
The good new doesn’t stop there. For it is also said that The Wonder of You by Elvis has also been ditched and there is a chance the anthemic Good Old Arsenal will make a welcome return when the teams take to the pitch.
We have our friends at @BlackScarfAFC on Twitter to thank for this insight. They have tweeted this: “One of our guys had a word with Gazidis at last night’s AST drinks & it seems the club are willing to consider two of our larger proposals…namely moving away fans to the upper tier, and having season ticket holders on the Clock End.
“Gazidis rightly said there are a couple of issues re moving away fans, but we say it’s not impossible to overcome the obstacles. As for ST holders on the Clock End, that could be achieved very easily. Let’s get the Clock End back!
“Apparently Gazidis was also asking people if they wanted ‘Good Old Arsenal’ back, and indicated that The Wonder Of You is definitely gone. The proposal would see the away fans moved to the upper tier i.e. giving home fans the lower tier and 3,000 cheaper tickets.”
The one issue is that existing fans in the upper tier would refuse to move but it is argued that this isn’t something that can be overcome.
All good, eh? BTW see the Black Scarf website here.
