'Incredible', 'what we need': Some Arsenal fans react to reported interest in 'next level gem'

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to give their thoughts on the Evening Standard report linking the Gunners with Ibrahima Konate.

Arsenal are thought to be mulling over signing a new centre-back and the report claims the Gunners are one of several big clubs monitoring the RB Leipzig star.

Arsenal offloaded Shkodran Mustafi and Sokratis Papastathopoulos during the January transfer window and more defenders could leave at the end of the season.

Konate is very highly rated, having already made 88 competitive senior appearances for Leipzig, despite being just 21.

A young, talented, physically imposing and experienced centre-back, he would surely slot into the Arsenal starting XI right away.

At present, three defenders could be in line to leave the Emirates – David Luiz, whose contract is up in the summer; Dinos Mavropanos, on loan at Stuttgart; and Calum Chambers, struggling for game time.

However, a new centre-back would surely be a huge blow for William Saliba, who is currently doing well on loan at Nice and is a player many Gunners fans want to succeed.

That said, some Arsenal supporters would also be pleased to see Konate in their ranks:
