'Inject it', 'that's the game won': Some Arsenal fans react to exciting update ahead of Benfica clash

A number of Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter with their thoughts on Thomas Partey’s return to full training ahead of the Gunners’ Europa League round of 32 second leg against Benfica.

The 27-year-old arrived at the Emirates Stadium last year to much fanfare, but injury issues have sadly stopped him from enjoying a consistent run in the first team.

Partey limped out of the 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on 6 February with a thigh injury and has been working his way back to fitness.

The Ghana international had only recently returned to action for Arsenal after suffering a hip injury which had kept him out for 10 games.

However, Partey is now back in training, a timely boost for Mikel Arteta with the Gunners’ knockout tie very much hanging in the balance.

“Thomas is very close,” the boss said on Wednesday morning. “He has got a final test today in training. If he is feeling good he can play the match.”

And according to football.london, Partey has travelled with the Arsenal squad to Athens.

But what have Arsenal fans made of Partey’s return? Do they want to see him in the XI right away or should Arteta tread carefully and name him on the bench to start with?

Here is what’s been said on social media:

Dani Ceballos and Granit Xhaka were named in midfield against Leeds in the league and Benfica in the Europa League first leg, and are likely to feature again in case Partey isn’t quite ready in Athens.
