Players expect Sanchez leave
According to reports, the Arsenal players are convinced that Alexis Sanchez will leave and no longer wants to be at the club. Manager Arsene Wenger has continued to claim the player is going no where this season and will be staying at the club, despite rumours of a move to Manchester City. However, there have been no quotes from the players that they feel this way. Sanchez is not expected to be fit for this weekends Community Shield game against Chelsea.
Academy coach leaves
Arsenal have lost highly rated academy coach Jan van Loon to Wolfsburg. The Dutchman joins Andries Jonker who was at the club previously as Arsenal’s head of academy. Van Loon worked with the U15 and was the club’s Head of Individual Player Development. Van Loon also joins Freddie Ljungberg at the German club.
Kroenke under fire
Arsenal owner Stan Kroenke is under fire after launching a TV channel that is dedicated to hunting. The channel apparently shows graphic hunting footage and the move has caused outrage among everyone, including Arsenal fans. This is of course the last thing the club need after last seasons issues over Arsene Wenger’s contract and a summer of non contract talks with top players. Whether this will now give Alisher Usmanov a chance to oust the controversial American remains to be seen, but so far there has been no statement from the club.
Eintracht Frankfurt forward Aymen Barkok is interesting Arsenal after the forward broke through last season. Barkok has claimed he is flattered by the interest from the club although knows he needs to work hard for the German side to improve. The 19 year old scored two goals in five appearances last season.
Community Shield time change
Sundays game against Chelsea in the Community Shield has been put back to 1400 kick off, due to clashing with the Women’s European Championship Final. The FA consulted with BT Sport and it was decided a change would be best for all parties.
Arsenal want £13.4m for Perez
Arsenal have set an asking price for want away striker Lucas Perez at £13.4m. Deportivo La Coruna had tabled a £9m bid recently which was turned down but so far they have not responded with a second bid. Newcastle United continue to monitor the situation and would be interested in a loan move for the Spaniard.
Koscielny can play
Laurent Koscielny is allowed to play in this weekend Community Shield despite having two games left of his suspension, having been sent off on the final day of last season. Koscielny had already missed the FA Cup final against Chelsea but the FA only consider the Community Shield to be a friendly.
