Lacazette will not leave Lyon
According to recent comments from Lyon’s president, Alexandre Lacazette will not be leaving Lyon in the summer. Jean-Michel Aulas stared when asked about the Arsenal target that “I do not think Alexandre Lacazette will leave this summer.” The 26 year-old striker wanted to leave Lyon this summer to move to a big club in the Champions League but a proposed move to Athletico Madrid was halted due to their transfer ban. This put Arsenal in the hot seat to sign the highly rated striker but with only Europa League football to offer the player may stay in France. The Lyon boss then rules out any interest in Oliver Giroud stating “I do not have anything to say about Olivier Giroud. We’re interested. Things haven’t advanced.”
Lemar would favour the Emirates next season
Arsenal target Thomas Lemar is thought to be in favour of a switch to Arsenal over Tottenham should he leave Monaco this season but a deal is far from confirmed. The 21 year-old winger is understandably high in demand at the moment due and is one of three Arsenal targets from Ligue 1. There has been talk that a deal for Lemar is close but Monaco are standing firm on their £30 million valuation. After being made to wait on a decision from fellow Monaco attacker Kylian Mbappe, at least Lemar appears to favour an Arsenal switch, should a deal be agreed.
Competition for Turan pulls out
Arsenal received good news yesterday in that Besiktas have ruled out a transfer move for Barcelona midfielder Arda Turan. The Süper Lig champions had hoped to bring the Turkish international back home but have pulled out due to the asking price. Barcelona want a reported £26.5 million for the player who has seen limited opportunities since joining from Atletico Madrid in 2015. That leaves Arsenal in the pole position to sign the player who they have been linked with for the past year. If Turan does arrive in London for he start of the new season he may be a little rusty having played just 36 times for the Spanish giants in two years.
Keown confident on new deal for Jack
Jack Wilshere will be offered a new deal by Arsenal according to ex-Gunner Martin Keown. The midfielder, who has spent the past season on loan at Bournemouth has just 12 months remaining on his current deal. He had largely failed to impress during his time on the south coast and boss Eddie Howe has ruled out a repeat move. Wilshere is continuing rehabilitation on his ankle injury which ended his season. Keown said “they certainly will offer him a new contract.” Later adding “His quality isn’t in doubt, it’s his health that’s the issue. There are some big decisions to be made but I would feel he is someone Wenger would try to keep. Somebody that he will try to support.”
