Zorc sounded out
According to reports, Borussia Dortmund director of football Michael Zorc has been sounded out about taking a job in the Premier League with Arsenal said to be interested in the German.
Arsenal would like Zorc as Sporting Director in a new role for the club regardless of whether manager Arsene Wenger stays or goes.
Reports state that Arsenal have already discussed potential transfers, with the club looking for a striker, centre defender, a wide player, a left back and a goalkeeper. Whether the Sporting Director will be in place to assist with this remains to be seen.
Zorc has built a reputation as an excellent Sporting Director but with issues behind the scenes at Dortmund, the German could be persuaded to sign.
If manager Arsene Wenger does leave the club in the summer which at present seems unlikely then the club may turn to Leonardo Jardim who manages French side Monaco. The Portuguese manager has impressed Arsenal with his management as Monaco sit top of Ligue 1 and also in the semi-final of the Champions League.
Former Arsenal centre back Mikael Silvestre has also claimed that Jardim would be an ideal replacement for Wenger, as he plays attacking football which would give the club continuity on the pitch.
Tuchel puts Arsenal on alert
Manager Thomas Tuchel is set to leave Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season putting Arsenal on alert as manager Arsene Wenger is yet to announce his decision on whether he is staying or going in the summer. Tuchel is many people’s preferred choice with plenty of money being staked on the German.
Tuchel has had disagreements with the Dortmund hierarchy of late and looks set to leave this summer.
Arsenal face a dilemma on forward Danny Welbeck who has injured his toe but hopefully should be fit to face Southampton on Wednesday at the St Mary’s Stadium.
Granit Xhaka however is a doubt after suffering a recurring injury that almost forced him out of the Manchester United match on Sunday. Xhaka faces a race to prove his fitness. Francis Coquelin and Mohamed Elneny stand by.
Shkodran Mustafi may start against the Saints with either Rob Holding or Nacho Monreal making way.
Saint Etienne defender Ronael Pierre Gabriel has stated he would love to play for Arsenal. The full back has played 13 times this season but has ambition to play in the Premier League and ideally for Arsenal. The 18 year old is contracted to the French club until 2021.
