Arsene Wenger has the answer to his shortage of strikers right under his nose in the shape of fit-again Lukas Podolski.
An excited Podolski, out for a lengthy period through injury, took to Twitter to reveal that he was back with the first team today and wrote: “Good news: I can start with the team today!!
“Finally back in Training and ready for Brazuca!:) now we’re waiting for the World Cup drawing!”
He posed a snap of him standing with Gunners’ team-mates and holding the new Brazuca football to be used at the 2014 World Cup.
Speculation has been rife that the Arsenal manager would delve into the transfer market in the January window to snap up another forward.
Critics have suggested that the Frenchman would have to recruit a frontman to cover for Olivier Giroud.
But Wenger has confirmed that German star Podolski is back in training and will very soon be available for selection as the north London outfit try to maintain their title tilt.
Discussing his squad selection options ahead of the Premier League clash with Everton at the Emirates on Sunday, Wenger said: “Apart from Podolski being back in training, everybody else is available from Wednesday night.
“We had no injuries and the players who were available then will be available for Everton.
“Podolski’s been out for a long time and is still a bit short of match fitness because he had his first training session today. But it’s good news to have him back.”
