Arsenal are hoping to complete the signing of Ajax defender Jurrien Timber in time to travel to Germany as the Gunners kick off their pre-season campaign with a friendly against FC Nurnberg.
Mikel Arteta’s side had reportedly agreed a fee with Ajax for the Dutch international last week, but whilst the deal is yet to be finalised, the indications are that it will go through soon, and Timber will link with his new squad for their trip to Germany.
Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth claimed that an announcement is to come ahead of Thursday’s game, and Timber could even play some part in the friendly as he gets to know his new teammates.
Kai Havertz has travelled to his home country and could make his debut, but the signing of Declan Rice may not be completed in time, but he could feature in the following USA tour after the Germany trip.

What are Arsenal’s pre-season plans?
It is clear that Arteta wanted his signings in as early as possible in order to allow them to have a full pre-season to adjust to his tactics and their new surroundings, and having all three of Rice, Timber and Havertz in the USA will be a big morale boost ahead of the new season.
