Sanchez is back, while Cazorla starts his recovery

Afternoon Bulletin

Sanchez back Sunday

Alexis Sanchez will start his pre season training with the club on Sunday along with Shkodran Mustafi. Arsene Wenger had allowed both extra time off after featuring in the Confederations Cup final four weeks ago. Wenger is still insisting that Sanchez is not going anywhere.

Lemar deal

Arsenal continue to chase Monaco midfielder Thomas Lemar but still no movement as of yet. Arsenal’s latest bid of £45m was turned down according to reports but the club are due to try again despite Monaco’s insistence the player will be staying. Lemar scored 14 goals last season and 14 assists and is not thought to be a replacement for Alexis Sanchez. Arsenal are due to make a £50m bid shortly.

Cazorla update

Spanish midfielder Santi Cazorla has admitted he is not near returning from injury having been out since October last year with an Achilles injury. The maestro started his recovery two weeks ago but has admitted he has no strength in his tendon or muscle mass. Cazorla has undergone multiple operations due to complications with the injury but is confident he will return the same player.

Perez move

A Lucas Perez move away from the club is getting closer with Deportivo la Coruna offering the player a ten year deal with a view of him becoming technical secretary upon his retirement. However, the stumbling block could be the fact Deportivo are only offering £9m for the player who Arsenal had brought for £17.1m last year. It remains to be seen if Arsenal will cut their losses and let the striker leave.

Seri rumour

According to reports Arsenal are nearing the signing of Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri. The 25-year-old was excellent last season and scored seven times and assisted nine. Roma had been linked to the midfield enforcer but were unwilling to meet his £36m release clause which may let in Arsenal.

Emirates Cup

Arsenal kick off the Emirates Cup on Saturday with their first match against Benfica. Arsenal normally play a mixture of youth and experienced players during the tournament as the club look to get some rhythm before the Community Shield.

Elneny centre back

Manager Arsene Wenger has hinted that he could play Mohamed Elneny at centre back having played the midfielder there in preseason so far. Wenger was pleased with Elneny’s contribution and with Shkodran Mustafi just returning to training and Gabriel Paulista injured, it seems he may help out at the back.

Tormey signs professional contract

17-year-old Nathan Tormey has signed a professional contract with the club. The technically gifted and pacey winger had an injury hit campaign last season but is highly regarded by Arsenal after being poached from rivals Tottenham.
