Sanchez overcomes knock
Alexis Sanchez trained with his Chile team mates ahead of tonight’s game against Bolivia. Having picked up a knock over the weekend the Arsenal forward was seen with an ice pack on his ankle. It now, however, appears that The forward is fit again as Chile prepare for their important World Cup qualifier. Currently sitting fourth in South American qualification there is more work to be done if the 28-year-old and his side are to be in Russia next summer.
Draxler on why he didn’t join Arsenal
Deadline day target Julian Draxler has revealed why he chose to stay in Paris rather than move to the Premier League. After the arrival of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, many assumed that the German international would leave Paris Saint-Germain to get regular football but that’s not how Draxler sees it.
“I am greatly looking forward to playing with Neymar and Mbappe — but, if players are bought for €222m or €180m, they have an advantage on paper. But I am confident — that’s why I didn’t think about leaving Paris.”
He has not featured from the start in any of PSG’s games so far this season but it remains to be seen if that will be a continuing trend. Playing his first full game of the season in Germany’s 6-0 win over Norway the confederations cup winner said:
“I only played two games for a short time [on the pitch] in Paris, but I came back to training four weeks later than other players because of the Confederations Cup. That’s something which is forgotten about in the media sometimes. The 90 minutes [against Norway] have been very, very important for me. I also sent a sign to Paris that they can bank on me.”
Club attempts to avoid repeat same mistakes
Arsenal will hold contract talks with several key players in an attempt to avoid the same situation we currently see with Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez. The club will approach players whose contract is expiring in 2019 before Christmas to get them to sign a new deal. Aaron Ramsey, Petr Cech, Danny Welbeck, Nacho Monreal and Theo Walcott are amongst the senior players who are due to discuss their future. Hopefully, the club can avoid similar destabilising situations as is currently on going.
Arsenal stars blasted by French media
Arsenal players were amongst several internationals to receive low ratings in the French media following there goalless draw with Luxembourg. Laurent Koscielny was given a rating of two, despite keeping a clean sheet. While it wasn’t the best performance from one of the most expensive sides in the world these ratings are fairly damning. Olivier Giroud and summer target Thomas Lemar were given a rating of three and no one in the side received higher than five. Alexandre Lacazette came off the bench for the final half hour but could not find the breakthrough. France remain second in their qualification group and are uncertain to be at the World Cup at the moment.
