Swansea City Preview, Aubameyang nearing, Giroud leaving?

Swansea City Preview

New signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan is set for his Gunners debut in Wales on Tuesday night.

The Armenian was part of the swap deal for former Gunner Alexis Sanchez who is now at rivals Manchester United.

Arsenal fans are buzzing and can’t wait to see their new man in action against the Swans.

Arsenal – Arsenal are likely to see the return of Olivier Giroud following a hamstring injury but fellow forward Danny Welbeck (hip) is still missing, as is Santi Cazorla (achilles).

Swansea – The Swans will be without Portuguese midfielder Renato Sanches after picking up an achilles injury in the cup. Argentinian defender Federico Fernandez is set for a return after missing a week with a nose injury.

Swansea City have lost four of their last five Premier League meetings with Arsenal (W1), including losing each of the last three in a row.

Carlos Carvalhal will be the seventh different Swansea manager that Wenger has faced in the Premier League, in what is the 14th meeting. Arsenal have scored in all six of their away Premier League games against Swansea – only at West Brom (12) and Birmingham (7) do they have a better 100 per cent record.

Arsenal have only lost one of their last 34 Premier League games against the side starting that day bottom of the table (W27 D6), losing 3-4 at Blackburn in September 2011.

Swansea have won seven points in their four Premier League games under Carlos Carvalhal (W2 D1 L1), two more than they’d picked up in the 12 games before his appointment (W1 D2 L9).

Aubameyang nearing

According to reports from Sky Sports, Arsenal have agreed a fee of £60million with Dortmund for their star striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners had a £50m bid rejected last week, with Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc stating they would only let the 28-year-old go if their demands were met.

Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud is looking more and more likely to be sold if Aubameyang joins Arsenal, but we’ll talk about that later!

Fans are more than excited to see Aubameyang almost becoming an Arsenal player. They believe he can be the start of a new era following the loss of Alexis Sanchez.

If this deal follows through, Aubameyang will be Arsenal’s all-time record signing with Alexandre Lacazette (£52million) coming in at second.

Giroud leaving?

As mentioned before, Olivier Giroud looks to be on his way to a new club after almost 6 years in North London.

Giroud has been linked with a variety of clubs such as Inter Milan, Chelsea and is also a big factor in the Aubameyang deal.

If you would like to look back at one of my previous bulletins, I talk about Olivier Giroud’s wife potentially blocking an exit from the Gunners.

According to the Daily Mail, Arsenal would allow Giroud to join their London rivals (Chelsea) if they meet the £35 million valuation for the 31-year-old striker.

The France international might need more minutes to be sure of his place in their World Cup squad, and would find himself potentially fourth-choice at Arsenal should Aubameyang join.

Do you think it is right to let Giroud go after all he has done for Arsenal? Tweet @ArsenalInsider what you think and why, personally I don’t think Giroud should be at another club come the 1st of February!
