Szczesny on why he chose Juve

Former Arsenal goalkeeper has spoken about why he chose to go to Juventus in the summer. After spending two seasons on loan at Italian side Roma, the Polish ‘keeper moved to Turin for £10 million. While at Arsenal he had fallen out of favour but now at Juventus, he will almost always be second choice to Gianluigi Buffon. Szczesny said:

“I came here because I need to win everything. I chose Juventus for their winning mindset. Every day in training I feel stronger and more ready to play for this club. It seemed a normal choice to me, when Juve call you, you have to go. When you play for Juventus the goal is always to win everything, and it’s no different this year. Scudetto rivals? There are a lot of strong teams, Napoli seem the most dangerous because of the quality of their play But there’s also Roma, and Spalletti’s Inter have started very well this season. We have to be ready to win every game, but with our mentality we will be.”

Szczesny has made just two appearances for the Serie A holders this season but has started three times for his Nation.

Mustafi to spend time on the sidelines

Shkodran Mustafi could face six weeks on the sidelines after picking up an injury on international duty. After suffering suspected ligament damage the German international went down in his country’s 5-1 win over Azerbaijan. He then left the field after little over half an hour gone in the game. National coach Joachim Loew said:

“It doesn’t look good, it looks like he had torn a ligament. We’re waiting for a full diagnosis, but it looks like he will be out for a while.”

The German international has played six times so far this season including five of seven league games.

Afternoon Christmas Eve game will not happen

Following heavy criticism from fans, the Premier League will not schedule any games for 4pm on Christmas Eve. There had been discussions of Arsenal’s match at home to Liverpool being rescheduled to December 24th at 16:00 but the league have backed down. A football Supporters’ Federation (FSF) statement read:

“Premier League CEO Richard Scudamore commits to no 4pm KO on Xmas Eve following this morning’s FSF Fans Group meeting,”

Currently, all sides are due to play on Saturday, December 23rd but there could still be a change for some to the following day. These will be earlier kickoffs though if they were to go ahead to avoid travel concerns.

Arsenal join partnership with game maker Konami

Arsenal fans will be able to play with their heroes and enjoy the official kits in the new PES game. Game developers Konami have reached an agreement with Arsenal to include the squad, kits and even the Emirates Stadium.

“Our working relationship with Konami to date has been extremely successful from a licensing perspective and we are delighted to extend this and welcome them as an official partner”.

These are the words of Arsenal’s chief commercial officer, Vinai Venkatesham, who was pleased with the deal. Konami will have access to the full squad so they can be digitally scanned into the game. Previous sides to be featured include Valencia CF, Inter Milan and Fulham FC.
