Unhappy fans, strained relationships and war chests

Fans hurls abuse

After the humiliation of losing to Crystal Palace 3-0 on Monday, the manager and players faced further abuse when getting onto the coach to leave Selhurst Park. Arsenal supporters were clearly incensed after the shocking performance and ensured the club and players knew exactly how they felt.

Wenger new deal

According to the Mirror, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will receive a two year deal and a £100m war chest to spend this summer on new players. With the possible sales of Mesut Ozil, Jack Wilshere, and Alex Oxlade Chamberlain, the Mirror claims Wenger could have up to £200m for purchases. The paper goes on to say Wenger wants to bring to the club: a goal keeper, two full backs, a defensive midfielder, two wide men and a striker. Lyon striker Alexandre Lacazette and Celtic striker Moussa Dembele are potential targets, as well as Dembele’s team mate Kieran Tierney. The Mirror also claims Arsenal are have joined the race for Wilfried Zaha.

Large losses

If the club fails to make the top four, and with it Champions League football, which does look very likely now, then they will potentially miss out on around £45.6m, as well as profits from match day income. The players also stand to lose millions for failing to achieve Champions League qualification.

Relationship strained

The Evening Standard is reporting that Arsene Wenger and Ivan Gazidis’s relationship is becoming strained as the Frenchman continues to drag out his decision over whether he is signing a new deal in the summer or leaving the club. With Gazidis wanting to change the club by bringing in a sporting director, Wenger continues to be reluctant to change.

Wenger deal still not decided

The Express is reporting that the Arsenal Supporters Trust have been told by the club, that no two year deal is on the table and the decision will be taken mutually at the end of the season. The AST have claimed they have told chief executive Ivan Gazidis they do not want Wenger in charge next season and this has been taken on board as part of the decision making process.

Price on the Ox’s head

Arsenal have apparently slapped a price tag of £35m on the head of midfielder Alex Oxlade Chamberlain. Liverpool are potential suitors for the Englishman with Jurgen Klopp a keen admirer of him.

Swap deal

New reports are linking a possible swap deal with Alexis Sanchez and Sergio Aguero. With Manchester City keen on Sanchez and Arsenal reluctant to sell to a rival, the tempting offer to have Aguero join the club could be enough for Arsenal to do business. No news however on how the Argentine would feel about joining the club when things seem rock bottom. It seems a non-starter to me.
