Wenger signs new deal
We should get official confirmation that manager Arsene Wenger has signed a new contract to keep him at the club for a further two years.
Wenger has been given assurances by the club that any structural changes to the club will not compromise his authority in team preparation or player recruitment.
Wenger and Ivan Gazidis have resolved their differences, which has been helped by Arsenal’s finish to the season. The news may not go down well with a number of fans however, who felt the club needed a change of manager and direction.
The FA Cup final win will go some way into pacifying some supporters but it will be interesting to see how supporters respond to the news tomorrow.
Arsenal agree Onyekuru transfer
Arsenal have triggered a £6.8m release clause for Belgium club KAS Eupen for 19 year old striker Henry Onyekuru. The Nigerian is the top scorer in the Jupiler League with 20 goals and has interested a number of Premier League teams.
But Onyekuru is keen on the move and has claimed he is an Arsenal fan. Arsenal are in the process of agreeing personal terms with the player.
Arsenal lead Mahrez chase
Arsenal are leading the chase to sign Leicester City winger Riyad Mahrez. It seems Monaco are struggling to afford the player’s wages which seems to have now put Arsenal at the front of the queue. Leicester are asking for £35m for their star man who had a disappointing season last year after a summer of transfer talk.
Vidal advises Sanchez
Arturo Vidal has advises team mate Alexis Sanchez to join a big club this summer. Vidal was speaking to reporters and claimed he has told Sanchez he has to play for the best team in the world if he wants to compete with the best teams.
Arsenal are interested in signing Monaco full back Djibril Sidibe. The 24 year old has been excellent for the French side this season after snubbing Arsenal last season to sign for Monaco.
Sidibe claimed he was worried he would not get the game time at the Emirates and would be asked to play on the left rather than his preferred position on the right.
Striker Olivier Giroud has held talks with manager Arsene Wenger over his future at the club, with both Marseille and Lyon considering bids.
Giroud has not played as much as he would have liked and has told Wenger he wants to start more games. The 30 year old has scored 98 goals in 226 games for Arsenal since his arrival.
