Wenger Won't Be Restricted and Giroud On Cusp Of Record

Arsenal won’t restrict Wenger
Arsenal are set to tell manager Arsene Wenger that their plans to bring in a director of football will not see him being undermined or have any less control. The role is to be seen as a supporting role with Wenger to continue to have final say on all things football.
Wenger had been recently extremely dismissive of the role when asked if the club were any nearer in signing a director of football.
The role the club are looking for, is someone who can offer support across a variety of operations including scouting, sports science, youth development, and logistics.
Giroud’s new role
It seems Olivier Giroud has a new role at the club and that is as a super sub. His goal against Southampton was his sixth goal as a substitute and is only two behind the record of Adam Le Fondre which was set in 2012/13 season.
I’m quite happy for Giroud to continue as our super sub rather than start games.
39th game anyone
The odds of this happening are extremely high but if Arsenal and Liverpool finish with the same points, goal difference and goals scored, then the two clubs will play an extra game at a neutral venue to decide who secures Champions League football. Arsenal are four points behind Liverpool with a game in hand and only three goals behind them. Maybe the odds now seem much more likely.
Welbeck shock
According to reports, Danny Welbeck could be subject to a £16m bid from Turkish side Galatasaray.
Galatasaray are due to sound out the 26-year-old striker about a potential move but a transfer seems unlikely at this stage.
Turan talks
The Mirror has reported that Arsenal have held talks with Barcelona’s Arda Turan with a view to signing the Turkish midfielder this summer.
Turan has been out of favour this season and the 30-year-old would view a move away as a positive step.
Turan would cost the club around £21m.
Ozil presses like
If we needed any concrete information that German Mesut Ozil was staying, we can all breath easy to know we now have it. A fan had sent a message to Ozil’s Instagram account writing ‘I love you. Stay at Arsenal forever’ which Ozil has liked! Yes people that is our sign he is clearly staying. I will rest easy today.
Team news
Early team news for the match against Stoke City on Saturday at 1730.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain looks set to miss the match having suffered a hamstring injury against Southampton. The club have yet to announce the severity of the injury but that information should be released sometime today.
Laurent Koscielny is another who looks set to miss out due to picking up a slight knock with Shkodran Mustafi set to continue.
