Bendtner and Denilson sign new long-term deals

We may not have signed anyone as the hours and minutes ticked away in the transfer window deadline, but Arsene Wenger has shown faith in what he has got by offering and having new contracts signed by Nicklas Bendtner and Denilson.
Bendtner, 21, netted 15 goals in 50 appearances last season and AW says the Dane offers more than just goals in his role.
AW said: “He scored a number of important goals and will look to replicate that. It’s not just about the goals, his all round contribution has improved and will continue to do so.
“Nicklas has impressed me highly with his application and determination over the last season, you can see that he wants to compete at the highest level and win things with his team-mates.”
For me, Denilson, 21, still has lots more to achieve but AW is obviously buying into his potential – and why should we be surprised by that?
Arsenal don’t reveal contract lengths but they have said that both deals are, “long term”.
AW is full of admiration for the new Gilberto Silva. He added: “Denilson’s contribution to the club last season was outstanding. His work rate really was exceptional and it is valuable to have players that we know will perform to the very last minute in such a demanding league.”
Sticking my neck on the line here but I don’t think either of these players are good enough for the Arsenal if we are to challenge for the top honours in the game. That doesn’t mean I won’t back them when they wear our famous colours it’s just that, with these two, I am not a believer. The good news: I am always bloody wrong when it comes to my beloved rip-roaring Reds!
Up the Gunners…
