Fabrizio Romano has said Arsenal could reach a full agreement to sign Declan Rice in the next 24 hours, with the Gunners close to striking a deal with West Ham.

Taking to Twitter, the Italian journalist revealed that the transfer is now expected to go through with Manchester City officially out of the race for Rice, with Arsenal now in the clear to sign the 24-year-old midfielder in what is expected to be a club-record transfer.

Arsenal last night submitted a bid worth £100m with an extra £5m in add-ons, and although the offer wasn’t accepted by West Ham, there is an expectation now that more talks today could see the north London side reach an agreement to sign Rice.

Indeed, the transfer saga has been a long one for Arsenal fans. Yet with the endgame now in sight, Rice is now on the verge of being announced as Mikel Arteta’s latest superstar player, with a deal expected to be confirmed either later today or tomorrow.

Rice to Arsenal has felt like a rumour that has lasted a lifetime, yet the deal is now on the verge of completion, with the West Ham skipper set to become the latest piece of the puzzle for the Gunners in a transfer that could transform the club’s fortunes for the better.

With UEFA Champions League football back at the Emirates next season, Rice has the potential to take Arsenal to a level the north London side have not experienced for some time. And getting a deal done this early in the window will be huge ahead of the new season.
