Fabrizio Romano has said Arsenal are now inching closer to announcing the signing of Jurrien Timber, with a £40m deal being agreed between the Gunners and Ajax.
Taking to Twitter, the Italian journalist revealed that the deal could be confirmed as early as next week, with the 22-year-old defender expected to become Arsenal’s second signing of the summer transfer window after Kai Havertz.

With Declan Rice also on the verge of signing for Arsenal, Mikel Arteta’s side have got off to a flying start in the market, with Timber expected to become the north London side’s third major arrival of the summer in a deal that many consider quite the bargain.
Indeed, Timber’s defensive versatility and age again falls into line for what Arteta is looking for in new signings. And after this latest update, there’s a real sense that the Dutchman could be confirmed as a new Arsenal player just in time for pre-season to start.
Why Pele Is Overrated.
Arsenal have done well to secure Timber in a timely manner

Arsenal have often been victims of dragging out a transfer saga, with the Gunners’ move for Rice alone a deal that feels like it has taken an eternity to complete. Yet this hasn’t been the case for Timber, who could be announced before the England international.
With Arsenal’s pre-season starting in just over two weeks, getting Timber through the door will be massive in Arteta’s preparations for the new campaign, one in which the north London side will be looking to once again go for the title having come so close last term.
