Jurrien Timber to Arsenal is now reportedly a done deal, with the transfer expected to be announced as early as this week.

According to Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg, the north London side are on the verge of completing the transfer for the Dutch international, with Timber expected to sign for Arsenal in a deal worth as much as €41m (£35m).

Timber is expected to become Arsenal’s second signing of the summer after the arrival of Kai Havertz from Chelsea. With Declan Rice due to follow suit later this week in what is set to be the Gunners’ club-record signing at £105m, smashing the previous figure set by Nicolas Pepe in 2019.

Few would have predicted Arsenal to sign Timber at the start of the window. However, the Gunners have acted efficiently in getting the deal done and also agreeing terms with Ajax that are quite reasonable, especially with the 22-year-old as talented and as versatile as he is.

Arsenal have often been accused of overspending for some players, yet few complaints can be made this time around on Timber, who at £35m could be one of the best deals the north London side have pulled off in terms of the finances involved.

Indeed, Timber is one of the most exciting defenders in all of Europe and a player who was wanted by the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United. And for Arsenal to land the centre-back and to get the deal done all for just £35m is nothing short of impressive from the Gunners.
