Report: Arsenal ace who compares himself to Sancho tipped for summer loan move; could also be sold

Reiss Nelson is set for a loan move away from Arsenal next season. However, there is also a chance the winger could be sold permanently if the right offer came in.

Football.london report that the Gunners are keen to retain the 21-year-old attacker, and a loan move is possible in the summer. Nelson has struggled for first-team minutes this season, in large part to the arrival of Willian from Chelsea last summer.

Although Arsenal would prefer Nelson to stay, the report states that Mikel Arteta’s side could be swayed into selling the England youth international if an offer between £15m and £20m was made for the youngster.

Supporters were eager for Nelson to go out on loan in the January transfer window, similar to Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

However, the attacker remained in north London for the remainder of the season, and failed to play a single first-team minute from Deadline Day onwards.

Insider View:

There’s no denying Nelson’s talent. In an interview with the Daily Mail in 2018, the Hale End academy graduate compared himself to childhood friend and England international Jadon Sancho.

And during his breakout year with Arsenal, it looked like the Gunners had a gem on their hands. Nelson played with an energy and freedom that has not been seen in an academy graduate for many a year.

This is what makes his development over the past 12 months such a shame for both Arsenal and the fans.

Arteta mismanaged Nelson massively last season, and although some supporters would want him to stay for the long-term and flourish into the player we believe he can become, it might be best for everyone involved if the 21-year-old attacker was allowed to leave Arsenal for good this summer.

With this transfer window shaping up to be one of the biggest in recent memory for the Gunners, an extra £20m to the transfer budget could make a big difference in who Arteta and Edu recruit in the coming months.
