Ainsley Maitland-Niles has again been linked with a move away from Arsenal following a string of impressive performances for West Brom.
The Mirror report that several clubs in both the Premier League and around Europe, such as Crystal Palace, Leeds United and AS Monaco, are interested in the versatile Arsenal ace, with the report claiming that several teams see the midfielder as ‘an attractive proposition’ ahead of the summer transfer window.
Maitland-Niles has flourished since his loan move to West Brom on deadline day in the January transfer window, with ex-Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell saying on Sky Sports Football (5:37 pm, April 12, 2021) that the England international has put ‘energy and quality’ into the Baggies midfield since his arrival.
The 23-year-old Hale End academy product has been linked with a transfer away from the Emirates for nearly 12 months, with The Athletic reporting in the 2020 summer transfer window that Maitland-Niles was close to a move to Wolves, but a move, in the end, fell through.
There’s no denying Maitland-Niles’ talent and potential, with the youngster impressing at the start of the season for Arsenal as the Gunners won the Community Shield against Liverpool – in which the midfielder broke the internet with his cool as ice penalty, and being capped for England in the September international break.
Yet his lack of starts for Arsenal, in particular in his favoured central midfield position, is what ultimately lead him to join West Brom on loan in the January window, and with his stock at his highest and clubs sniffing about, Mikel Arteta could do well to allow the Arsenal man to leave for a decent fee.
With the summer transfer window likely to be a busy one for the Gunners, allowing Maitland-Niles to leave with multiple teams keen on the midfielder could allow Arsenal to get a reasonable deal for the midfielder done in quick succession, which will allow the club to use newly generated funds to strengthen in areas of the squad that require new signings.
