Arsenal could complete the signing of Aaron Ramsdale in time for this Sunday’s Premier League against Chelsea.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners are working fast to finalise the transfer of the 23-year-old English shot-stopper.

The Athletic reported earlier in the week that an agreement had been struck between Arsenal and Sheffield United for Ramsdale.

The former AFC Bournemouth star will to join the Gunners in a deal that could reach as high as £30m. Ramsdale will become the sixth most expensive keeper in the history of football following this transfer to Arsenal.

Ramsdale won’t be the only new face who could potentially face Chelsea on Sunday, though. As per the Daily Mail, Martin Odegaard could also be in the squad for this weekend’s London derby.

The Real Madrid star had his medical at London Colney earlier this week, with Odegaard also set to join Arsenal for a fee of around £30m. The 22-year-old has been Mikel Arteta’a top creative target this window.

Insider’s View: Ramsdale signing could boost morale at Arsenal

Following the 2-0 defeat to Brentford, morale around Arsenal both with the fans and seemingly in the squad has been at its lowest for some time.

Yet the arrivals of Odegaard and Ramsdale could be what the club need to get their spirits back up.

The Norwegian playmaker is already a familiar face in north London after spending half a season with Arsenal on loan. Whilst Ramsdale is well known for being a positive character off the field.

Many fans will disagree with the fee Arsenal are paying for the England international. But if Ramsdale’s personality can help drive the team’s motivation, then the incoming number two will quickly find followers and supporters at his new club.
