Arsenal are reportedly set to receive a third bid from Aston Villa for midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.

As reported by the Athletic, Villa have had multiple bids turned down by the Gunners for Smith Rowe.

Smith Rowe will likely sign new Arsenal deal despite Villa bid

The England youth international has a new contract on the table at Arsenal, and Smith Rowe will likely commit his future to his boyhood club.

However, Villa’s resilience to sign the youngster could prove to be a sticking point for Arsenal. Smith Rowe has two years remaining on his current deal.

The winger was key to Arsenal’s revival last season. Smith Rowe scored four goals and assisted eight more in all competitions for Arsenal last season.

The midfielder added much-needed creativity and flair to Mikel Arteta’s side which were devoid of any spark for the first half of the campaign.

Yet whilst the attacking midfielder looks certain to sign a new deal with the north London side, Villa’s determination and ambition to bring Smith Rowe to Birmingham with a big-mney bid might sway the Hale End graduate’s head.

Insider View:

Retaining Smith Rowe should be Arsenal’s number one short-term priority. Whilst there are reports that the midfielder has a new deal on the table, a lack of news over whether the youngster will sign should be a concerning sign for supporters.

Alongside Bukayo Saka, Smith Rowe is one of Arsenal’s most important players, as well, as one of the most promising talents to graduate from Hale End in some time. And losing him to Villa would be a devasting blow to the north London side.

The England youth star was a big reason behind the club’s resurgence in form last season, and his quality and potential is too rare and high for Arsenal to lose to a club that finished the 2020/21 campaign in 11th place.
