Crystal Palace will reportedly step up their efforts to sign Eddie Nketiah with the transfer window set to close in five days.
According to the Daily Mail, the south London side will intensify their interest in the Arsenal youngster in the coming days. Palace are eager to sign a striker, and Nketiah appears to be the club’s main target.
The attacker is currently injured until early September. However, the striker is eager to leave the Emirates this summer. Nketiah hardly played for the Gunners last campaign. The England U-21 captain has scored just one goal at club level this year.
As well as Nketiah, as per the report, Reiss Nelson is also on Palace’s radar. Just like the striker, the winger barely featured for Arsenal last season under Mikel Arteta. However, the former Hoffenheim loanee has played Premier League minutes this campaign.
Nketiah and Nelson are just two Arsenal players who could leave the club in the coming days. The likes of Hector Bellerin, Sead Kolasinac and Willian are available to depart the Gunners this summer as well.
Insider’s View: Nketiah to Palace will be a win for all parties
With Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette likely to be Arsenal’s main starting strikers this season once again, Nketiah simply can’t afford to spend another year on the bench.
Indeed, the club made a big mistake not allowing the attacker to depart on loan in January, as well as Nelson. And Palace could be a great club for Nketiah to develop his game, especially under Arsenal legend Patrick Vieira.
Time is running out for Nketiah to find a new club. But with Palace set to increase their efforts on signing the striker, the 22-year-old England youngster could well be on his way to south London in the coming days.
