Rodriguez Arsenal’s plan B if they cannot get Tierney

According to reports, Arsenal have increased their offer for Celtic left-back Kieran Tierney. Unai Emery is looking to improve his defence tactics this summer, since the Gunners conceded 51 goals in the Premier League last season. The opening bid of £15 million for the defender had already been rejected. However, it seems they have an alternative should their final bid be rejected. Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez is another left back looking for a team.
With the arrival of Theo Hernandez at AC Milan, left back Ricardo Rodriguez is left with an uncertain future in Italy. He joined Milan from Wolfsburg in 2017 for €18 million and had a decent run, with four goals in 87 appearances. However, it seems he will be replaced there. After French left back Hernandez joined from Real Madrid, for a €20 million deal, Sport claimed the Swiss international will be sold.
Two major sides have already expressed interest in the Swiss international. It seems that Barcelona are looking for an alternative for Neymar. The Brazilian will of course come with a hefty price tag, and with the transfer window closing, Barcelona is running out of options. The 26-year-old Rodriguez will be a much more economical option, reportedly priced at just €15 million.
The La Liga champions will be facing competition from the Gunners, however. The Reds are in a similar situation as Barcelona. Should negotiations for Tierney fail, they could move fast on the young defender.
Whether Arsenal will end up with either Tierney or Rodriguez is not clear yet. The bookies have Tierney at ¼, while odds for Rodriguez are not offered yet. With very few football events to bet on this summer, transfer odds seem to be the only option for football-minded punters. The transfer window is open till August 9.
