Luis Suarez won’t complete a big-money move to Arsenal and instead will join Real Madrid if he gets his wish to leave Liverpool.
That’s according to Gunners legend Lee Dixon, who believes the Uruguay star, 26, is destined for the Bernabeu and is an unlikely recruit for Arsene Wenger’s outfit.
The Suarez-to-Arsenal saga has been boiling along all summer with Wenger supposed to have cheekily bid £40million plus a quid to land the Kop striker. But the Anfield hierarchy are said to have slapped a £50million price tag on their star forward, with the Gunners boss seemingly refusing to stretch to that figure.
Now former Highbury favourite Dixon has poured cold water on any potential deal that would see Suarez move from Merseyside to the Marble Halls.
Ex-right-back Dixon said:
“I think Rooney has a chance of going to Chelsea but I’m not sure about Suarez. I just don’t see him going to Arsenal to be honest.
I think if he is going to go anywhere it will probably be to Real Madrid.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal’s Spanish midfielder Mikel Arteta has hinted at a marquee arrival at the club.
He then went on to say:
“I think we are going to start the season with new faces.
That is what we are all hoping for. That will give us a big boost and everyone is very positive.
It will happen, I have no doubts about it. It takes time but I know the boss is working really hard on it and the board as well.
I am convinced but the great players normally come at the end of the transfer window.”
Arsenal have already missed out on Gonzalo Higuain this summer after he elected to join Napoli from Real Madrid.
