Ask The Oppo! Wolves v Arsenal

CARL ELDRIDGE talks to LOUIE SILVANI ahead of the game between the Arsenal and Wolves…

What did you make of AW’s views on Mick McCarthy’s decision to field a weakened team when Wolves played Manchester United earlier in the season at Old Trafford and lost 3-0?

I thought they were a bit silly.  Of course he might be annoyed but damaging the ‘international credibility of the game’?  I didn’t agree with what Mick did but there was no need for that, he made himself look like a bit of a hypocrite. For someone so smart he can act a bit dumb sometimes.

What Wolves players could make the transition to a top four side playing in the Champions League and battling for the Premier League title?

Kevin Doyle for sure. How Wolves got him to sign will remain a mystery for years to come. We have Michael Mancienne on loan from Chelsea and Wolves fans have divided opinions about him. I think he is top class and will be in the England team at centre back in a few years but others don’t think he is strong or good enough. I think he would suit Arsenal’s style.

How important has Marcus Hahnemann been as Wolves bid to retain top flight status?

He wasn’t even in our team until late November. We had Hennessey in goal (who Arsenal might have been linked with before) and he was young, and conceded eight goals in two games that weren’t really his fault. I didn’t agree with dropping him but Marcus has been fantastic since coming into the side. He relieves pressure off the defence as he commands the area really well.

If Wolves were Arsenal and you played good football but won nothing for five years, would you be frustrated at the lack of silverware, or would you settle for knowing that you looked forward to seeing your team play the game the right way each week?

Considering our position now, I would definitely settle for the best football in the world but won nothing. Arsenal fans are lucky to watch such fantastic football, and although I could understand some of their frustrations they don’t have that much to moan about.

Is Mick McCarthy miserable, and should he have a nose job?

On MOTD every week, after Mick’s interview you see Lineker and Hansen chuckling. He’s the most entertaining manager in the league to watch after a match.

How good is Kevin Doyle for you lot up front?

People say we had a weakened side at Old Trafford, but just without Doyle it is a weakened side. Without him this year, we would be sunk. He’s as important to us as Fabregas is to Arsenal.

What player would you like at Wolves if you could have your pick of Arsenal players?

Fabregas is one of my favourite players to watch, and he’s an obvious choice. Wolves have had problems this season with left back, and I really like Clichy.

What’s your favourite ground apart from Molineux and what do you think of the Emirates?

I thought Goodison Park was good, and Craven Cottage is one of the best atmospheres you’ll get. The Emirates is literally round the corner from where I live and I can often hear when Arsenal score (which is very often!)

Finally, do you have a prediction for us?

Even with all the injuries problems you have and a big game against Barcelona I think you’ll have enough to beat us. It will be close, and may take a late goal but I think it will be 1-0/2-1. If we score it will be Doyle and for you Walcott and Bendtner, assuming they play.
