Ask the Oppo:Blackburn blogger replies van Persie is overrated!!!

Morning Insiders, what could have been a very boring international break was brightened by the exploits of “Trio” Walcott midweek but thankfully it’s Saturday again and at 3 o’Clock the Arsenal world starts to turn again. It gonna be an interesting week two trips up North and a European game! Seven days that could put down a marker for the season ahead. Anyway, this week, I’ve been chatting to Jimmy Quartuccio, Blackburn fan and blogger.
PGL: So it’s been all change over the summer at Blackburn, you’ve lost your manager and one of your best players. What’s the mood been like at Ewood Park?
JQ: I think Santa Cruz is fit for the match this weekend. As for the manager, well the jury is still out on Ince. Needless to say, it’s kind of like walking on Eggshells watching Rovers right now.
PGL: Paul Ince has had a meteoric rise up the divisions. How far up the Premier league do you think he can take Rovers?
JQ: Ince has a great style of football planned out in his head. We’ll see how long it takes to get it implemented. If we finish top half I’ll be considering this season a success.
PGL: What do you make of the players he’s brought in?
JQ: Robbo in for a net of just 1.5m is shrewd. King Carlos has a lot of expectations riding on him too. Danny Simpson in for a year’s loan can only add depth. Bunn, I don’t know anything about and in Andrews’ debut he didn’t look too bad at all. I’m overall actually pretty happy with our summer. Still didn’t replace Bents though, and that’s a problem.
PGL: I know it’s early days but has the Blackburn style of play changed under Ince this season?
JQ: Attacking flowing passing play. Similar to Aresenal in a way but not as technical yet. It’s good not seeing the ball lumped over top for RSC all the time, Rovers have been entertaining.
PGL: A lot of Arsenal fans we’re hoping to see Roque Santa Cruz move to the Emirates over the summer. How important is it for Rovers that he’s signed a new contract?
JQ: It’s huge. The guy is a workhorse. Great work ethic, skill and determination, he’ll be the one you need to watch for this weekend.
PGL: Games between our two teams tend to be a bit heated and full of incident. Is it a game Blackburn fans look forward to?
JQ: Look forward to? Not really. Physical and heated sure but we’ve been on the losing end lately and not by a little. The FA cup semi final is one game I won’t soon forget.
PGL: Steven Reid, in my opinion, is one of the most under rated players in the Premiership, do you think he can keep Cesc and Co at bay across the middle?
JQ: Reid is consistent, and he’ll play a few sweet passes. He might be able to handle the “And Co” buy he’ll have his hands full with Cesc.
PGL: Adebayor & Robin Van Persie make a pretty dangerous pairing at the head of the Arsenal attack, how do you see your defence approaching the game?
JQ: Robin Van Persie is one of the most overrated players in the league. Just letting you know. Adebayor is great, Samba can hopefully negate his ariel game but his skill might be impossible to contain the whole 90. He’s my FF capatin (not this week for obvious reasons) I also have a soft spot for Adebayor cause by him staying, RSC wasn’t tapped up. Oh, I hate RvP.
PGL: Ahhhh Jimmy, the bitterness has you blinded to the greatness of RvP! But I guess we all have players we simply hate… speaking of such players, do you have any songs about how much of a clown David Bentley is? Maybe we could all sing them together Saturday…
JQ: Songs? No. A few choice words that I’ll refrain from slinging? Yes. Lots and lots of them.
PGL: And finally, what’s your prediction for the game?
JQ: It won’t disappoint. Heated for sure, it always is. Realistically, I’ll say 2-1 Arsenal. But In the back of my head I think 3-2 rovers with a Santa Cruz hat-trick and a brace for Adebayor.
PGL: I think its important we come back from the break with a win. I’m going for Blackburn 1-2 Arsenal. A close, physical game and hopefully, just for Jimmy, RvP will grab the winner. It will be interesting to see if Theo starts, with these games always being a bit tasty AW may plump for “the pass master” Eboue.
