by CARL ELDRIDGE Arsene Wenger has gone all spendy on Bendy, if you are to believe this morning’s papers. The Sun reports that super Nic Bendtner has agreed a new £2.5million-a-year contract at the glorious Gunners
The redtop claims the deal is an “incredible turnaround” for the Danish striker, 21, whose Emirates career, it reports, had been blighted by bust-ups with former team-mate Emmanuel Adebayor.
But Arsene Wenger has now sold Adebayor to Manchester City for £25m and Bendtner is thriving without him, says the tabloid.
Apparently, AW ‘hinted’ before the Celtic game that team spirit was better than ever following the departures of Adebayor and Kolo Toure, who was hardly on the best of terms with Bill Gallas it has to be said.
Bendy’s £50,000-a- week deal is believed to be a three-year extension to the two years he had remaining, taking him through to 2014.
Other than that, today’s papers are Arsenaless to a large degree with last night’s Premier League games dominating the space in the sports pages. At this point your correspondent doesn’t feel the need to mention one north London club’s result or current league position but does feel it is only right and proper to report that a certain red-nosed Jock will have had a second bottle of Merlot last night after defeat at Burnley.
Have a good day, insiders.
