Dzagoev Admits Desire to Switch Club
Reported Arsenal target Alan Dzagoev has alerted his potential suitors by confessing that he might want to leave his current club CSKA Moscow when his contract with them expires at the end of the year. (Metro)
The Russian attacking midfielder has been one of the stars of the European Championship so far and has scored thrice in just two matches. His expiring contract makes him an even more attractive option and it is understood that several big club are keen to add him to their squads this summer.
The Gunners are being regarded as the frontrunners in the chase to sign Dzagoev and now the 21-year-old has admitted that he might be ready to switch clubs, although he is currently focused on the job in hand.
“Of course, I have the desire to try myself in other clubs in Europe. But I’ll think about it only after the tournament. Now I’m doing my own job here,” Dzagoev told the press recently.
Ljungberg Tells Arsenal to Loosen Up Purse Strings
Freddie Ljungberg has said that Arsenal must make some top quality additions to their squad in order to convince their talismanic captain Robin van Persie to extend his contract with them. (Goal.com)
The former Gunner believes that by signing a few quality performers for big money, the club would prove to their superstar striker that they can challenge for honours in the future.
Speaking in an interview with Goal.com Ljungberg said: “I think there’s nothing to advise Robin, I think it’s more that you have to advise Arsenal. When Robin came to Arsenal we were a good team and we were winning trophies.
“I think that’s what he wants to do, and I think that Arsenal maybe have to open their wallet a little bit and buy maybe two or three top, top players… not just players for the squad. I think that will win Robin over on whether he will stay or not, and as a fan I hope that’s what he is going to do because I want to see Arsenal lift trophies again.
“I know that when they built the new stadium, that took a toll on their economy and they couldn’t show their muscle so much in the transfer market, so yes I think they have to [spend more] now. It’s about competition, and a big club in a healthy situation, as they are, need to not lose players and get players in. That’s what we did in the past when we were at Highbury and I hope we can do it again.”

Manchester City left-back Gael Clichy believes that he made the correct decision for his career by joining his current club from Arsenal last season.
The French defender, who lifted the Barclays Premier League trophy with City in his very first season, says that the club switch has not only satisfied his trophy lust but also improved him as a player.
In an interview with Sky Sports, Clichy said: “It’s funny, but I am a vastly different player this year since I moved to City. In my head, it is a turning point in my career. I wanted to see where it could take me. I do not regret it for a moment, as I have gained in self-confidence.

Mönchengladbach Ready to Pull Out Of Giroud Race
Borussia Mönchengladbach officials have admitted that with a club as big as Arsenal in the race to sign Montpellier striker Olivier Giroud, their chances of taking the Frenchman to the Bundesliga are slim.
The German club’s sporting director Max Eberl told Bild: “We remain true to our policy that we do not throw our money out the window. The problem in our negotiations is that we are in competition with clubs like Arsenal and top clubs in Germany.”
Giroud is one of the top transfer targets of coach Arsene Wenger and it is widely believed that the Gunners will sign him for £12 million this summer.

Nicklas Bendtner is apparently a summer transfer target for Swansea’s newly appointed manager Michael Laudrup. (Metro)
The Danish trainer is keen to add a new striker to his club’s forward line, and the Arsenal outcast Bendtner is the man he has identified as his first choice.
The 24-year-old striker spent last season at Sunderland but struggled for form and goals. However, he has looked in decent touch in the ongoing European Championship and his recent brace against Portugal could be the reason why Laudrup is interested in acquiring his services.
