Biglia Claims Arsenal and Real Madrid’s Interest

Belgian Pro League club Anderlecht’s defensive midfielder Lucas Biglia has claimed that he is being tracked by both Arsenal FC and Real Madrid. (

The 26-year-old Argentine is on a long-term deal at Anderlecht but is expected to leave them in the upcoming summer transfer window.

In an interview with Todo Mercado, Biglia said: “There has been contact with Real Madrid and Arsenal and we are waiting….I have a contract with Anderlecht until 2015, but the club know that I intend to leave. We have negotiated my buyout clause and if a club comes to pay it, Anderlecht will let me go.”

Arsenal Set To Lose In Vertonghen Race

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly beaten Arsenal in the race to sign Ajax Amsterdam’s central defender Jan Vertonghen. According to’ sources, the Belgian international has rejected the Gunners in favour of signing for their fierce North London rivals, who are now having advanced negotiations with Ajax.

“Vertonghen has made his mind up and his move to Spurs could all be agreed within the next few days,”’s unnamed source told them.

A deal in the region of £8.1 million has already been agreed and if everything goes according to plan, then Vertonghen would visit Tottenham’s new Enfield training facilities in the next few days.

Vertonghen, who was recently been named Eredivisie’s best player of the 2011/12 season, wants to move to the Spurs so badly that he doesn’t even care if they can offer him Champions League football next season or not. The primary reason behind his decision to choose Tottenham is that he would be a guaranteed first-choice starter at White Hart Lane, where there is a well-known shortage of quality centre-backs. Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger wasn’t able to offer him the same guarantee.

Gunners’ Target Giroud on Bayern Munich’s Radar

French club Montpellier’s star striker Olivier Giroud, who has been a summer transfer target of Arsenal, has confirmed that Bayern Munich have made a move to recruit him.

The Gunners’ manager Arsene Wenger is a rumoured admirer of Giroud, who has scored 25 goals for Montpellier this season. But he could now miss out on the 25-year-old targetman’s services as Bayern are already discussing a transfer with the player’s agent.

In an interview with Sport Bild, Giroud said: “I haven’t spoken with Bayern Munich personally, but my agent has been in touch with them. Bayern Munich are very well known in France because of all the positive experiences other French players have had there. They have all said how well they were received at Bayern, and how happy they were at the club.”

Arsenal Agree £17.7 Million Fees for M’Vila – Report

Widespread reports have emerged that Arsenal have agreed a £17.7 million transfer fees with French club Stade Rennais for their defensive midfielder Yann M’Vila.

The young French international has been on Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger’s radar for quite some time and it seems that he is now all set to finally get his man. Italian giants Inter Milan were also interested in signing M’Vila but the 21-year-old starlet is only interested in moving to Emirates Stadium.

The transfer is expected to be confirmed after the French Ligue 1 ends on May 20.

Benayoun Happy With Arsenal Spell

Yossi Benayoun has expressed his satisfaction at the way his season-long loan at Arsenal has worked out but says that he is unsure what the future holds for him.

The Israeli midfielder was loaned to the Gunners by Chelsea last year on the final day of the summer transfer window. The first half of the season didn’t go too well for him, as he found first-team opportunities hard to come by. But he fared much better in the second half and became a regular fixture in coach Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up.

Now that his loan deal is about to expire, he says that he has enjoyed his time at Emirates Stadium and is happy with his choice to come to Arsenal.

In an interview with, Benayoun said: “I finish here in a good way. In the last few months I have been more involved. Of course you want to play and you want to enjoy it and I think I have played a big part in the last few games. You always remember the end and I am happy with my performances in the last few months.

“Since I came to Arsenal I have always been committed to one club until the last game of the season. The only thing I want is for Arsenal to finish in third place, I don’t care about anybody else. When I finish I will have to decide about my future. I am supposed to go back to Chelsea first and then we will see what the future holds.”
